Stop Loss is a US military requirement for soldiers to remain in service beyond their normal discharge date. This is Lindsay's story, who was affected by this measure. For more information, go to www.stoplossmovie.com.

Once again another stop loss story that does NOT mention the soldier being held up by stop loss. Please be more responsible in the future with your anti war propoganda.

Hi Liberal_Extinction! The pod didn't discuss the ins and outs of Donnie's stop loss experience - perhaps it should have done a little more? But the wording underneath and the film itself does mention that he and his wife were affected by his staying on in Iraq for a second duty, presumably beyond his end of term service.

It just doesn't appear to me that a lot of these "stop-loss stories" are even aware that their story is being used as anti war propoganda.

this is for the most part a well done portrayal of this very important issue, but this pod and others on stop-loss are WAY too short, and don't give the viewer enough time to get involved with the subject, let alone discern themselves as anti-war propaganda. I would add at least another 2-3 minutes of content.

Liberal_Extinction, I'm really interested in where you get the idea from that this is anti-war propaganda, when it is simply a presentation of an interview with somebody affected by the issues in Iraq. Obviously pods are edited in some way - they have to be, particularly when the length needs to be around 2 minutes long... but which aspect of the editing do you think belies a hostile outlook to the Iraq war in particular? How do you think a more balances outlook could be achieved?

I agree with above comments, the pod does stray away from the actual soldier's story and instead focuses on the wife at home. But you made great use of what footage from Lindsay you were able to get, I especially like that she is holding the camera as if it is an ongoing diary and there is more to come in the future... great pod but make it longer!

Mischa, I'm trying to be very polite and tread lightly here, but if MTV is involved and they are producing a movie about "stop loss" then pardon my french but, WTF do you think it's going to be? It IS anti war propoganda, end of story. I don't want to sound crass or insensitive but but stop loss and inacive reserve are NOT aspects of your military seperation/ service that are HIDDEN from enlisted people. It is common knowledge AND standard operating procedure that EVERYONE can fall under/ be recalled by these policies. I have not seen the stop loss movie yet BUT from what I hear it's about a soldier that is ALREADY back home, stateside, and recalled back to active duty. For starters, that is NOT stop loss, that is an inactive reserve it's in your contract based on the length of your enlistment. Second, it's COMMON knowledge that MTV leans (term used EXTREMELY lightly) to the left, they are NOT promoting anything pro-America, current administration, or Iraq war. All I'm asking at this point is if their barrage of "stop loss" videos are A) being used with the filmed persons consent and B) being used in the manner that the filmed person intended. I don't doubt one bit that there is some frustration on the part of the families, friends, and spouses in these videos but I haven't seen many of them coming across as un-patriotic as the MTV f***stains are going to with their movie. I can't thank the soldiers and their families enough that are affected by this war, and my intention is NOT to slander them in ANY shape form or fashion but SERIOUSLY, MTV, fair and balanced? HIGHLY unlikely...
