Even some of Senator Clinton's most fervent supporters admit that if at this point the numbers were reversed and Hillary Clinton had a 150+ lead over Senator Obama in the number of pledged delegates as well as a majority of the popular vote as recognized by the Democratic Party, then an overwhelming majority of party officials would have already named Senator Clinton as the presumptive nominee and pressured Senator Obama to drop out of the race. The only reason Hillary Clinton is still in the race is because so many rich and powerful members of the Democratic Party members who are used to wielding their power and influence to get their way have chosen to back her. It just kills them to see that the true backbone of the Democratic Party - the masses of we, the working middle and lower class "rabble" have rejected the better judgment of the party machine and chosen a different candidate. It's time that all those people who so proudly call themselves Democrats live up to their name and recognize the clear majority of their party members and stop counting themselves as somehow superior by virtue of their wealth and/or position. The longer they cling stubbornly to the idea that somehow the tide will eventually turn in Hillary's favor and she will emerge as the nominee, even if they have to fight up to the Convention in August, the weaker the Democratic party becomes and the chances that John McCain will, by hook or by crook, pull off a victory in the general election. We know that there will be pockets of election "irregularities" tipping the scales in favor of the Republican nominee in the general election. The only chance the Democratic Party has of overcoming these obstacles is by a landslide in favor of the Democratic nominee. If the vote is close, it will end up going to McCain and the Supreme Court which has been packed by Bush will make sure a victory in McCain's favor is upheld. It's time for Hillary Clinton and her supporters in the Democratic Party to set aside their egos and ambitions and bow to the will of the people while there is still time to mount a campaign against McCain.
