Life is still hard on the Navajo Nation.
One Dine President can't change hundreds of years of oppression in a few years.
But President Joe Shirley Jr. did with the Navajo Nation Council ban renewed uranium mining on tribal lands.
I worry about casinos in Navajo too, especially because of the creation stories about how gambling destroyed the Dine in previous worlds before emergence into this one. Conditions in Navajo have deteriorated badly since G.W. Bush and Cheney took over. The poverty in Chinle, above Canyon de Chelly is heart piercing. -
