The US Secretary of State has aired her thoughts on race in the United States, a prominent issue in the presidential election campaign, telling the Washington Times that Barack Obama's speech - which discussed a racial stalemate in the United States and the need to heal racial wounds - was 'important... for a whole host of reasons'.
'But what I would like understood as a black American is that black Americans loved and had faith in this country even when this country didn't love and have faith in them, and that's our legacy'. Rice said her own father, grandmother and great-grandmother had endured 'terrible humiliations' growing up in the segregated south and yet they still loved America.
'You have to work hard every day to make the extraordinary, moving and inspirational words of our founding documents a reality for all Americans'.

So true, so true Ms. Rice!

I like Condi's exit strategy. When Bush is done, she goes home. Simple enough. Then comes all the books. For someone not about politics, she sure delivers a mean backhand in the sport.
"It's time for new blood", could mean a full transfusion on her part. It certainly wasn't a glowing McCain endorsement.
I have mixed feelings about her showing any support for Obama's speech. There could be a warped backlash from it. She's still seen by many as a creepy person carrying a lot of "nasty business" around in her head. No matter what she says, she's still one GWB's closest friends. That means, Loyal beyond all normal human comprehension.
Anyone, and I do mean anyone, who spends too much time disecting Barrack's brilliant speech or his stand on race relations will, eventually, have a large slice of the public turning on them. There's only so much tolerance to go around. -
Nice picture of a war criminal.

I always thought she had a streak of sense in her, just never could show it.

Holy Shit ! Condi has now assumed the role of "voice for all of black america , past and present " ! aspiring historiographers take note - this is the kind of "meta-narrative" doctoral theses are made of .
-
Give her a break. Maybe she has recovered from her Bush crush.

I liked that she acknowledged that "it's time for new blood"!
That includes any and everyone that will continue the Busheney administrations self-serving policies, perspective and that might perpetuate the misguided attitude and beliefs stemming from their arrested development, subsequent limited understanding and misconceptions of the world, people and themselves.
We NEED to learn that people who are at a point in their personal development who externalize, project or attribute their our thoughts, emotions, motivations, rational, attitudes or ideas on others - are UNFIT to serve in public office - any public office.
These individuals have not achieved an adequate level of perspective, humility, compassion nor understanding to preside over others. And although they may be well intentioned, most certainly will unnecessarily create turmoil and suffering for Americans, ultimately being a destructive force in our society and the world.-

Yes, let's just give her a break because she agreed with Obama, who also voted to confirm her as Secrertary of State to continue a war that has killed many of all races and creeds. Let's just forget her culpability in lying at the 9.11 commission hearings about the August 26th PDB. Let's just forget her unswerving loyalty to those who took this constitution and made it unrecognizable. Let's just forget that while Hurricane Katrina was drowning people, she was in NY buying expensive Ferragamo shoes because she cared so much for them.

She obviously doesn't love this country enough to speak out against the murdering lying criminals she has enabled with her bloody hands all of these years who claim to love America but clearly hate Americans. Break? She gets no break from me. But hey, maybe Obama can pick her for his running mate if he gets the nomination and everyone who suddenly wants to forgive her can vote for her too.-

I don't think that this is so much about agreeing with your political buddies as it is about not sticking your foot in your mouth. Dick Cheney did the same thing with the issue of gay marriage. He was not entirely opposed to it, but then again his daughter is a lesbian. In a similar fashion, Rice can't really say anything bad about Obama's speech even if she did disagree because it would be committing political sepuku.
