Living and working in China for the past two years as an English teacher I embark on a trip to see the human costs of the Three Gorges Dam project in China (the biggest dam on earth). The journey starts from below the dam it's self and runs up the dam's reservoir see what the effects of the dam are on the 1.5 million people that were moved because of the water's rise.

  • cool video, the shots from boat on the river were really good, some shots were too dark but maybe this was intentional to protect identity. the most powerful part is the man who explains who little compensation he got.

    overall, good work!

  • Nice video. Only Chinese government can evacuate all the residents so efficiently without protesting or any sort of tension between the government and its people. If it was happened in any democratic society, how long will this process of evacuation take? Sometimes, I wonder, communist society could do so much that a democratic society couldn’t in terms of getting things done efficiently.

  • "There are plenty of conflicts inside China, but i never saw fast rescue as what they did.... cooperation and harmony is what i see from them....

The dam is only a means of showing how they built their country even their people..... once the failures arises, they seek for a higher means of livelihood for their people even in their community.

On the other hand, China needs to study the Geological phases of their land to know much more better dams and recover the old ones.
