How I love this man! It is going to be so emotional to even see the ads from his organization play on television this next week. It has been such a long time waiting to have someone of his stature, conviction, and passion for our Earth take this step. To put his own money, time, creativity and knowledge into doing this for our future is just yes, heroic. After supporting him for over twenty years I can absolutely say I have never been prouder of him than I am today. He is not only a man who cares about this country, but the world. And to hear tonight that he is converting his family farm into a worldwide training center- well, SIGN ME UP.
He is also not only training people in India, but has also trained people in London, Australia, Spain, and will be training more people coming up next month in Canada. He is scheduled to be keynote speaker at events all over the world and will be instrumental in forging a climate treaty that truly meets the challenge of the climate crisis. It is more than I could have ever hoped for for him in lifting himself up from the pain of eight years ago, and it is as if that pain were meant to be to lead him to where he is now.
That hurt is still obvious in his face when he speaks of it, as well as his wife's, and when the last question came up I immediately looked at his wife's face and it said, oh no, not this again. He is over it. He is above politics. He is about working to help this species survive its own destructive behavior. That is most certainly a full time job that cannot be done from the tainted halls of the beltway.
I only hope that now as his new ad campaign embarks more people will awaken to seeing the urgency of what we face as a species and the limited time we have to make it right. We can solve it as Mr. Gore stated, but we all need the will and we need to stay on top of those who have the responsibility of doing that in government. However, I truly do believe business and individuals are and already will take the lead on this and that is primarily due to Al Gore's tremendous efforts and focus on the most challenging crisis this species has ever faced.
Happy Birthday tomorrow to a great man who has shown all of us that anything is possible when you put your soul and heart into it. He truly does inspire me.

Yes, he was meant for more than the mere office of figurehead... and though he still has to politic his way through some circles to get the green message out... It's working! We can see progress as a result of his leadership, endorcement, and effort. Go Al Go! You are validated!

yes, and now we must all make ourselves "climate messengers" to get the green message out. My co-workers call me miss environment now ;-), and I wear that distinction proudly. Everyone i work with has changed their bulbs, planted trees, and is now much more aware of what they do, and I am proud that I had something to do with bringing that to them. And we can all do our part small as we may think it is to try to make progress.
Tonight on 60 Minutes as he stood in the streets of India talking to Leslie Stahl she mentioned how daunting it is for him to be giving his training to 100 people in a country of 1 billion. However, if he trains the right people who have the same conviction and passion he does, those 100 people can reach 100 or even a 1000 and it multiplies. No doubt it is daunting, but I do have faith that once more people see the urgency of it they will work to spread the message on their own. And here, people have got to hold politicians' feet to the fire and that includes all the current candidates. Unless we do, we cannot fault inaction on their part.-

he is truly an inspiration!
i attend a small high school called the School of Environmental Studies located in Apple Valley, Minnesota, and last June we had one of the women he had personally trained come in and give his presentation and an overview of his organization.
he is truly an amazing figure! he is paving the way for both present and future generations to both invest in and truly absorb the fantastic earth we have around us.
the link is to an organization called green is sexy that recently spotlighted our school. -

is this about hope or what? going beyond our own expectations, towards equality -
hillierc: i wish they had high schools like that when I was going to high school.;-) Looks very cool. And yes, he is an amazing figure. He has shown us that we all share this world and are all responsible together for its future. That truly does transcend politics. I applied to be trained in Nashville, but didn't quite make it the first time out because of the demand. I'm hoping it comes around again, because I would love to learn how to give his slideshow to others in my local community. For now though I have my blog and I do what I can to write about it and talk to people on my own. You were truly fortunate to have that presentation at your school. It's great to see young people getting involved in caring for this planet and ourselves.

An amazing man. I hope his birthday is as amazing. I agree about the ads too. Aren't they great? I've seen quite a few of them now and they are all inspiring. I only hope the message finally gets across.
My granddaughter's school is really into enviromental things so we looked up the website to request a presentation of the slide show so she could take the info back to her principal. They really work hard on this. I'm so proud of her! -

JoQ: That's great. Might be something I do for my local high school. I gave them a copy of An Inconvenient Truth, but having a slideshow presentation there would be a good way to make it more real. And yes, the ads are great. And speaking of amazing, any man who can get Pat Robertson and Al Sharpton to sit on the same couch is amazing in my book. LOL.

Mr. Gore, you are an inspiration to an entire generation of people, myself included. We'd be lost without you. I promise to fight the good fight my whole life.
