I'd never heard of the magazine until now - thank you thank you!

    Image...

Fill your ears at 'Poetic's MySpace... mmm! Nice to see some coverage about the music behind the samples in music such as DJ Shadow's.

Very good insight into the mag. Saw Waxpoetics reppin' at the LA Beat Swap Meet, looking in their direction with curiosity and fascination. Keep up the solid work, 'Poetics. - DQ of Foundation FunKollective

This magazine is so deep that people will just begin to understand this in like 5 years time.

Wax Poetics is worth even more $$$ than $6...

Thanks for the extended mix cinquanta!

Whaddup with the overusage of the Soul Investigators though?

Publishing is an expensive proposition, Books, and a risky one. It's also printed on some higher-quality paper stock, which makes it feel like a higher-quality product as well.

no doubt. i always browse the mag when i find one in a record store (you know, a place where they keep reco...nevermind), but I never felt compelled to pony up the snaps.

but the fact the mag persists reinforces my hope that real shit can get support...even if not from me....wuduyu expect tho? i'm a rapper. any chance of a magazine being devoted to lyricism qua lyricism?

Never heard of WP either until this pod so really great piece. As an avid vinyl collector, I'll really have to look into this. Very cool!

Great pod. I'd love to see you do a similar piece on FatBeats, the store you visited. That place is a rare gem.

Love it, reminds me of one my favorite documentaries, The Z-Channel: the Magnificent Obsession, Instead of exposing the world to hidden film treasures, its music. (the man, his channel and his mission)
I definitely must get a copy of the mag.

their style of journalism and whole overall idea for the purpose of the magazine is way cool

As always, excellent work J.C. =]

Wax Poetics is an amazing magazine and I think this pod showed exactly why. The mag and the idea behind it are what's missing from hip-hop journalism (and music journalism in general) today...it's well worth the cover price.

So important for all of us to know where those samples we love so much came from! And YES I want to hear something/read something I've never heard before...that's what the musical experience is all about. Thank you!

i'll have to check it out, i'm a white boy into jazz but don't know a thing about hiphop, is there online content? the possibilities could be huge for interactive content on the web.

in todays society the youth is so consumed with mainstream rap that they dont realize its not true hip hop and i wasnt aware of this magazine and thanks to this pod i can go fat beats (by far my fav record store) and pick up a couple issues to continue my support of real hip hop
