An apparent terrorist attack against the London Eye and MI6 headquarters has been foiled, according to The Sun newspaper.According to the tabloid "terrorists tested security by leaving two bags outside the intelligence service building on the Thames at Vauxhall and another at the giant ferris wheel on the South Bank. But the bags – containing small metal weights – were spotted at both iconic targets."
As a result, the terror threat assessment has been upgraded to "severe" and the usual police warnings about how it's not a matter of 'if' but 'when' have been given out.

Yeah but imagine crossing the street and a bag full of weights is on the other side.

Honestly, crossing the street scares me more than this.

I'd take it more serious were it not published in The Sun.

Convenient that the 'terror threat' has been upgraded to 'severe' at the same time the government are trying to pass the bill to extend detention without charge to 42 days, and curbing the old civil liberty habeas corpus - the right to be freed if not charged and traditionally the means of safeguarding individual freedom against arbitrary state action.
The Sun is just the British equivalent of Fox News - heighten the fear, frighten the people, and give the government carte blanche to roll back all the civil liberties they like. - 1 year ago

BRITAIN, THE TERROR THREAT IS NOW OFFICIALLY SEVERE. Ok, what shall we do? Stay extra vigilant for for stray, ticking bags? Maybe just stay home and panic? No. Let's just brace for an explosion, safe in the knowledge that the police helpfully warned us it was coming.

It's no wonder police found the bag, they only have about a thousand cameras watching everything around the ferris wheel. Maybe that's why they call it the London Eye.

Well something I find interesting is that despite our "best" efforts to win the war on terror, not only are terrorists still doing evil things, but our nation has yet to actually prevent a terrorist attack. All of the prevention of terrorist attacks after 9/11 have been made by foreign countries. Does that not seem a little odd and/or pathetic?
