This is a portrait of New York Diner, a small family owned Greek restaurant located in Astoria, Queens. It is an uplifting tale about one immigrant group, the Greeks, who have used the diner business as a way for them to gain social mobility, passing the torch to the newest and fastest growing immigrant population, the Mexicans.

As inspiring a pod as I've seen. Makes me feel pretty good about the future of documentaries.

I married into a Greek-American family and the work-ethic, pace of life, and enthusiasm depicted in this documentary are most authentic, in my experience. Similarly, passing on opportunity to a new generation of immigrants, from Mexico, is a phenomenon very famiiar to people in many entry businesses here in Chicago. The work ethic among both groups is what makes it work. That and a profound sense of humor!
