Vegans Gone Wild in Portland

At first glance, Casa Diablo Gentlemen’s Club in Portland, Ore., looks just like all the other strip clubs popping up in that city. Take a closer look at it and you will come to find out that all the employees, management and strippers are all either vegan or vegetarian. At the club, leather is not allowed to be worn on - stage just pleather, and clients are served tofu, not red meat. Since its opening last month, Feminists in Portland, whom the owner of the club calls, “femenazi’s,” have been complaining that this type of club is sending the wrong message in “using sex appeal to sell an idea.” According to one of the people interviewed in the New York Times Article, “it seems that using sex appeal is working, we’ve gotten a lot of men eating vegetarian, if not vegan.”

  • If these men go to strip clubs anyways, why not throw in some lesson about the link between what we eat, where it comes from, and how it effects the environment.
