Bush adminstration says constitution not valid

Image

It appears the Bush Administration finds the Fourth Amendment kind of pesky so they say it doesn't apply to domestic military operations. That's scary

    • Impeach him. If you can't impeach him, put him on trial for war crimes and crimes on humanity. If you can't get him for that, class action sue the crap outta him until he's bankrupted. And if all else fails, egg his house and have 200 pizzas delivered when he didn't order them. We gotta find some way to make this jerk pay for what he is doing to our country!

    • Bush and his cronies have done soooooo much crap. They have tried to pass bills that have hidden clauses to drill for oil in protected wilderness while the rest of the bill talks about protecting United States citizens. Hell, Bush tried to pass a bill that excused him and his staff of war crimes. You don't try to pass a bill that excuses you from all of you potential war crimes unless you think that you have in fact committed war crimes.

I would love to see the next administration hand over Bush and his bunch to a court of the world so that they could be properly investigated, and then tried for war crimes if sufficient evidence is found. But I don't think that we should just make this an issue for the United States. These people have screwed the whole world, and should be tried by the whole world.

    • jade_azul16, THEN WHAT THE CONGRESS HAS BEEN DOING, IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL! It's their job as one of the three branches of government to UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION! Our Constitution covers renegade presidents. In Congress's oath of office, I'm sure the next election is not mentioned. How dare they wait to do their jobs, for fear of loosing the next election?

They don't get to pick and choose which laws they want to investigate. I have heard far too many credible people, Bush's own people out his crimes. I think many, many investigations are not just justified, it's their duty. It’s our duty as citizens to police them all. HOLD THEM ALL ACCOUNTABLE! It may be time to clean house?

How can Congress expect us to trust them during the next President's term? What else will they go along to get along on. THEIR NEGLIGENCE IS HURTING US, IT'S NOT HELPING THEIR PARTY. IT JUST MAKES ME WANT A NEW PARTY, AN 'AMERICAN PARTY'!

    • Former Prosecutor Elizabeth de la Vega wrote a book US vs. George W. Bush (? title, I'm at work and can't look at the book). It walks the reader through 7 days of hearings, using facts in her simulated grand jury testimony. She uses information that is on record and makes a convincing case. Mainstream media doesn't talk about it, because they are co-conspirators!

Mainstream media should be a thing of the past, not our Constitution and Bill of Rights!

    • President Bush swore to protect and defend the U.S. constitution. This is a legally binding contract with the citizens of the United States. Breaking a contract is illegal. Bush should be impeached for his criminal activity.

    • Guys, it is not only the president that is doing this! Sure he is a dirty bag--but so is the rest of his branch and many people in the house and senate. The government loves a subdued and ignorant public and they try every effort to keep us that way. I mean look at what we spend on national defense and compare it to how much we spend on education. Seems like our government is getting a bit paranoid about it's public.

    • There's still plenty of time for a war in Iran. And from the sound of it, they're trying to make it happen now. So you really think impeachment is off the table? that's so... Pelosi.

    • OverHere, your right, it hit me in the gut. After 9/11, using the facts we were given, going to Afganistan was basically accepted thoughout the world. I didn't post against going to Afganistan, but Iraq is a different issue.

I listened to the people who knew what was going on before we went into Iraq, they were sounding the bells and whistles. George W. didn't listen.

I think if George W. is innocent of war crimes, he should prove it. No investigation, no crime? There are far too many questions and far too few answers. No one can give us the answers, they are all secret? Our tax dollars are used to investigate sex and steroids, why not war?

I want to hear testimony, under oath! Granted they would all be pardoned anyway, but to ride off into the sunset would be a travesty!

    • chet_arthur: Techincally then we could say that since 2000 was an unconstitutional freebie for them courtesy of the USSC nothing they have done since has been constitutional, not even 'running' again in 2004. But yes, being realistic they will get away with everything. Not even the candidates we have today have stated one word about accountability regarding them, and that more than anything validates to me how they are all part of the status quo regardless of how much they talk about 'change.' The only change I got from this government were the pennies left in my pocket on pay day after paying it all out to someone else.

And I surely agree with you about education. Civics would be a requirement to graduate from every high school in this country. Seems many young people ( not all, but many) know the lyrics to every rap song out there but can't even tell you what the Bill of Rights is. We do need to change that but as you stated that will never happen. And that is because the 'keepers' don't want us to be too educated, because education leads to enlightenment. They need us on the whole ignorant and compliant to keep up their smoke and mirrors act.

    • JanforGore, and chet, I agree 100% with both of you. There is a lot more going on under the pretext of "protecting" us and the order of the way things work than a lot of people know. Skull and bones is just ONE of the few "secrete" societies that are shaping history and what is going on right now. Lots more is going on than even those of us "in the know" understand. This link I've included is just the tip of the iceberg on what is going on behind closed doors.

    • oath or not we all know the mans word of honor is a pile of excrement. i too would like to see them all tried and convicted, but the sad reality of it all is that they were elected (at least in 04). we need to change the educational system in order to cultivate a more astute voting populace....but that will never happen.

    • Can the people of America put forth a class action suit once their asses are out of office? And at least if he isn't impeached to find a way to freeze all of their assets to make them pay for the invasion they waged at the expense of our children and our constitution? I'm sorry, but I cannot see him, Cheney, and the lot of them just being allowed to retire on their ranches.

to patriot_of_freedom: Yes, he did take an oath, but Bush is Skull and Bones and oaths mean nothing to them except the oath to start war to validate their manhood. I wish the American people on the whole knew the whole truth about these people and their secret societies that have influenced policy for decades. They all need to be tried and convicted for war crimes and for crimes and misdemeanors against the American people... although, the fact that we all sat for eight years and allowed it to happen would probably null and void any action we tried to take once they left office. The Founding Fathers flawed as they were are rolling in their graves today. I think if they came back for even one day to see what has transpired they would not be pleased. We have turned into the very aristocracy we claimed to be getting away from. It truly is heartbreaking.

    • Typical lip service from the white house in regards to our constitution. This goes right along with the patriot act and the mil. comm. act of 2006 to help the government try and control us. It's funny, I distinctly remember the prez taking the oath when he was sworn in to uphold and protect the CONSTITUTION of the united states.

    • Cpain, 96th, I agree with you both wholly. I wish to see both Bush and Cheney endure waterboarding. To date, we are closer than ever to ridding ourselves of the greedy bastards; each day brings more hope.

    • I too am disgusted at just how much Bush raped our Constitution. I have posted on this issue a few times here at current.

I am conflicted, simply because the emotional side of me wants to see him impeached/removed and convicted of breaking the law right now! The practical side of me realizes that the alternative (President Cheney) might just be worse.

What I hope happens, is that once he is out of office, the government goes after him. I, as a US citizen need to see him held accountable for his actions. I need this to heal the wounds that he inflicted on my country and constitution. He can't be allowed to get away with this.

Let me add one more thing. I Don't want to have some Watergate like healing process, where he is pardoned by the future president like how Ford pardoned Nixon. I don't think this would happen with a Hilary or Obama, I do this its a possibility w/ McCain.

    • based on your exclamation marks and cap letters, conniepae I assume my response hit you in the gut. let me expand on some thoughts, then: I don't think impeachment viable at this point in time. I DO think accountability (for war crimes among other things) a legitimate effort of the people's voice.

on the other hand, I have a practical vein that suggests even legitimate accountability (vs. revenge) is not likely. too many "friends" in high places for the Bush group

and by the next generation, I did not mean children in school. although I certainly agree 100% with your point on that subject; for me, the next gen of political activists may very well include you. it is the age group of 20-40 (I'm in my early 60s)

something tells me that we are on the same side of this issue but that I'm not quite as hot under the collar about it. I may well care as deeply as you do but I'm not willing to spin myself into a frenzy of word wars over the issue mainly because I truly believe that the truth will out...and I can wait. or to paraphrase MLKJr. the arc of the moral universe DOES bend toward justice

let us work steadily (vs. in a fever) to recover our constitution and send the bad guys packing. jail time for them is okay with me. *smile*

    • I hope he doesn't get to ride off into the sunset after what he has done to America and the World, with absolutely NO ACCOUNTABILITY!

Congess should teach our children how American government is supposed to govern.

I'm sure children in America have heard the debate about George W. and the neocons. If George W. gets to ride off into the sunset, children will think it's okay to break the law. They will want to be President for the wrong reason.

    • personally I think impeachment is too late now; I'll happily settle for Bush quietly retiring to Texas and never showing his stupid face again. on to the next generation of political change: power to the people! recovery IS possible. heads-up, everybody!!

    • Hold it, you can't impeach Bush. If you impeach Bush then Cheney will be left to run the country. In my opinion you need to impeach them both if you are going to impeach at all.
