Who loves the newspod robot voice?

So we launched something that's making me gleam with excitement, the current news pod is probably the best thing that happened to digital television since digital television happened. Suddenly, my non newsy friends are turned on to the news, "so my comments can go on TV?" they ask, "of course they can!" I reply "It's Current!"

I can sense people planning webcam responses in their bedroom, there's folk giving the news a real good think so they can form a solid opinion on it, and the funky electro beat at the start is even making my most hard line news hater friends bop along to the beat.

The news isn't about suits and auto-cues anymore, it's about electro music, sexy visuals and your opinions. It's one big exciting journalism fairly tale come true, and it's happening right under our feet on them there internet cables.

Let's get those green-lights hitting the good stuff and the red lights killing all the spam. This is our site now, so lets keep it rockin and constantly moving.

So what about that sexy robot voice? I can't get enough of her, she keeps me up at night thinking about the wonder that is current...

Can we give her a name?

  • I love the image.. I would love to hear her voice. Is it the one that is on current? It is very exciting how current is really giving people a voice.

    maybe if it was a sexy robotic male voice.... maybe

    but let's just face it, robots aren't seXXXy!!

    or do you think we will be engaging in sexual acts with machines in the future?

    hehe, sounds as silly as having sex with a picnic table, but anyway, what ever floats your boat

    with a lil imagination, everything is possible.. ;-)

  • i <3 news pods! and i like the robot voice - i just wonder if she will learn better pronunciation and timing as she reads more news. Hearing her say the word "peanuts" the other day made me do a triple take ;)

  • I don't really like it. It takes the humor out. I like Conor's snarky comments. Too serious for me. And all the goofy voices. I just like it a little more human.

    I can see how it would be a little cool, but to me it's just a little irritating.
    I'm all lost in the new layout too.

  • I find the electronic voice as it is a little hard to listen to. It is a cool idea, but as for being practical, it needs to be a touch smoother.

  • The voice seems so futuristic... but I would agree with ajcowley that Conor should be the voice for Current News. Every hour on the hour! The electronic voice doesn't show any emotions... There's no-one better than Conor to fill in that shoe :)

  • Connor will be back on thursday in a half hour show. OOH! Like the daily show! I think that the voice is much better than what was out there a few years ago. Im proud of their selection. but yea, a sexy guy voice would be great.

  • Love the idea of the news pods and all the ones I've seen so far. Also, at 58min past the hour it is ideal flick time to tune back into Current.

    But I really don't like the robot-voice, too dry and difficult to listen to.

  • I think the same girl who does the voice-over for the VCAM promo on TV would be a good alternative to the robot voice. "We call it VCAM... get paid up to 50,000 dollars, blah blah..." - that one.

  • I think the "robot" voice blends well with Current's style and tone on the website. The pact of the voice is quite well and never once did it cross my mind as "robotic."

    The pace of the voice is perfect and the voice is very articulate and once again flows perfectly with the tone of Current.com Could really get used to it!! Keep up the good work and new additions to the site! :)
