An important conversation to have. My opinion is that we need to learn how to conserve our resources and be as efficient as possible. Carbon offset schemes will help to divert some money into renewable resources. As long as we are flying a gazillion miles per day, driving trucks with 8 mpg fuel efficiency, and eating meat most of all, we will still fry ourselves right off the planet.

I agree somewhat. Carbon offsetting should not be an end, but a means to get there. A lot needs to happen in concert. Carbon offsetting is a decent first baby step, but not nearly enough.

Progress demands that resources we have here are used wisely and added to in the way of new technologies to alleviate the burden from dwindling resources. The carbon offset factor has been an ongoing concern ever since humans learnt to make fire and accumulate across the planet.New technologies arrive as they are brilliantly concieved to take our lives into the future. The planet also develops and adjusts to these changes in the way of weather..storms..earthquakes e.t.c.and so all is accountable but not all is neccessarily understood at this time.Everything we consume and comes from the planet and it knows our footprints already..maybe we have a chance to see its trace as well..
