Binge drinking teenagers are still at risk of absent-mindedness and forgetfulness days later, a study says.
A team from Northumbria and Keele universities compared 26 binge drinkers with 34 non-bingers in memory tests, and found the drinkers fared worse.
They told the British Psychological Society conference that binge drinking could be harming developing brains.
A spokesman for the charity Addaction said drinking at dangerous levels was putting some young people at risk.
"There is evidence that excess alcohol and binge drinking in particular damages parts of the brain that underpin everyday memory"-
Dr Thomas Heffernan, University of Northumbria

are you seriously telling me these guys took TEENAGES, gave them alcohol, and tested the results? so, instead of telling them it's wrong to drink, they're stuffing them to the brim with alcohol... very smart.
-
umm.. where is the news in this?
alcohol is a toxin.. essentially a poison which is especially harmful to the nervous system.. to give young people large amounts of alcohol for an experiment is pretty much unethical.. regardless of how common it may be for people to consume it.. -
Yeah. Well....yeah.
Not surprising.-

They didn't give the kids alcohol to drink. They gave memory tests to kids who regularly binge-drink and to kids who don't. And there were significant differences in memory between the 2 groups on one of the tests.
Too much alcohol is no bueno! Beware drinkers! Know when to say when for the sake of your brrrrrrain! -

Alcohol and Cocaine does destroy cells on the brain. Humm, in regards to pot smokers, beginners does present some symptoms of erratic euphoria and for some it does affect your short term memory block. If after smoking, you ever forget where your keys are, you will know why it happened...
