  • Life begins with the first breath, before that their is no soul present. Adam did not become a living soul until God breathed the breath of life into him.

It is more humane to end life before birth than it is to kill millions with senseless and endless wars.

  • Thank your for you post.

This quote should be very helpful in uniting the democrats behind whichever of our two choices gets the nomination. It shows us what is at stake if we fall for McCain's charms.

"McCain supports overturning Roe v. Wade and banning abortion except in cases of rape, incest or threat to the life of the mother. He has an anti-abortion voting record, and has promised, if elected, to appoint justices who "strictly interpret the Constitution of the United States and do not legislate from the bench."

Since 56% of Americans support the Roe v. Wade decision as opposed to 40% who oppose (Harris 2007) your post serves as a great reminder that another republican president appointing more judges will lead to rulings that contradict the will of the people. On this issues and many others.

    So...thanks again for posting.

    Anyone but McCain in 08.

  • Tell me how these millions of embryos were going to find good work, establish strong families, contribute to society positively. Tell me how we're going to solve the adoption problems in this country. Most importantly, tell me how a no-abortion law would effect global overpopulation. And if you can convince me with strong arguments on any of those questions, I'll be more than happy to listen.

Oh, and while you're thinking about that, consider the millions of people in our prison systems. Right-to-lifers are steadfast supporters of embryos, but once those embryos commit crimes in life, forget about 'em. Toss them in a cell and never look back.

  • Why is this non-issue still an issue in the US when in civilized countries like Sweden or Belgium almost noone seems to care about it?

Abortions were, are and will be. With or without Roe v Wade. What's the big deal?

  • Indeed, stardate. There is no social stigma around abortion in Sweden, and for good reason. People are thoughtful enough to know that those that get abortions do so because they are unfit to be parents. There is also better sex education, meaning that abortions are not as common, either.

  • A surprising proportion of the American population don't care about abortion one way or the other. Then again, a surprising proportion of the American population don't vote or express opinions.

  • Whether or not abortion is a right, does not matter. If abortion were illegalized, there would be literally hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) of children in the foster care system; and we all know just how fun that can be. There just aren't enough people in this country willing to feed children that didn't come out of them.

Also there would be hundreds of thousands getting arrested for having, or performing, illegal abortions and our jails already have inmates packed like sardines.

I know this is a touchy issue, especially for parents, but, either way you slice it, abortion, as of this point, is a neccessary evil.

  • Abortion is necessary and it is not evil.

I strongly oppose abortion as a sole means of birth control. I believe education and contraception are the answer for birth control. Abortion should be a last resort.

    My humble views on abortion.
