  • wow wow wow. pretty bold move ey?
  • They shouldn't have apologized.

    What's the big deal?

    I love the ad!

  • Why the hell did they apologize for this? It reflects truth, this is what all the anti-immigration yahoos need to see.

  • They shouldn't apologize. This ad is genius. Keep sticking it to the man!

  • Um, shouldn't that bold text be in Spanish if this ad is targeted to run in Mexico? It makes me think that the ad is really intended first and foremost to get noticed by viral distribution in the American market. Hmmm...

  • Hey, we killed for it fair and square! Make sure your alcoholic beverage says God Bless America, from sea to shining sea!

  • Wouldn't that mean there would be even more unemployed Mexicans trying to get to the USA to feed their families?

Can anyone explain to me why conditions in Mexico are so horrible that people are 'dying to get out' literally, in the desert.

  • From what I know, it's the southern agricultural sector of Mexico that most immigrants come from. The main reason is American agricultural is highly advanced, so with NAFTA Mexican farmers are unprotected from our unnaturally low priced goods. The effects of our subsidized crops is seen in many third world countries. It destroys their farming, but they can't say no to its cheap price.

  • I think this image should be passed around more often. I want to see it in more places.

And while we're at it, I think the USA should be split up into smaller countries. This country is too damn big, and I think it contributes to its disfunctionality.

United we have not stood for a long time.

  • Seriously, nobody really thinks about America as it once was. And it doesn't look all too bad. However, I would probably be living in Mexico right now if those borders were still in place today.

  • About a year ago i was flipping throw a "San Francisco" magazine and there was a similar ad with California divided in half at around Fresno, with the northern half reading "California republic" and the bottom half reading "South California"... I thought it was hilarious... I think this one is hilarious too...

  • They 'apologised' because it immediately made the ad more controversial so more people spoke about it. Genius move!

I'm, er, sorry for this comment.

  • well technically this is stolen land, we're occupying mexico.

  • I find the ad quite funny.
  • no borders world - be better !
  • Mesoamericans, unite!
    BooksBrown
  • i agree with some of the opinions... i don't see any reason for them to apologize

  • The only thing I would change on this map is to make California its own country. California is, after all, the 6th most wealthy would-be nation in the world.

  • listen guys lets be serious. in one thread we are talking about the possible c.i.a. assassination of king and rihgt now the mexican army is right over the border fighting the cartels who are levying for power in a full fledged war for who is going to run the cartel from tj to cuidad juarez.

where i live at they have killed all sorts of officials read the links from the el paso times.

there maybe people afraid of latino's but i attribute it to one of the same problems my muslim community has.the resistance to assimilation.

it happens in el paso, as it does in az, as it does in nm, as it does all along the border. 2nd and 3rd generation mexicans don't even like mexicans from over there because they aren't americans. they aren't trying to be americans, they want to be mexicans with american benefits.

i'm broken on it because i'm black but i was raised with mexicans from mexico as i was with mexican's who are purely american. hell my wife along with my step moms is mexican. but i know this much, there is a reason why people are still coming here. and its not because mexico has bettered themselves year by year.

america may have her problems but compared to what i get across the border i'd rather be over here. mexico only cares about cities on the beach that empower her shakey economy. besides that to think that the cartels don't run mexico is just insane.

and to help futher her cause i'm going to cancun to show how much of a hypocrite i am next week.

silly ad. all you guys have to do is travel the planet as americans and see the warm responses you get. how could you want to be from another place and live here? and we have very open, no wait pourous borders and are allowed to travel where ever and whenever we want except n. korea and cuba and there are ways around that.

face it america will never be mexico again even with the illegals and legal latino's living here and deal with it.

truth is i think that absolut is trying to hit a new market of folks who aren't big on the vodka. and this is one sneaky way of reaching that market.

  • Eh no worries for me, I live in Washington State and it was only stolen from the Indian nations lol.

  • while i like the ad, i do agree that it is using a political issue (which i feel strongly about!) to sell its product, which kinda annoys me... though i do like a good ad!

    bring on the mandarin absolut!
    jarratt
  • i agree with making california its own country, that would be legit

  • lol. awesome ad. and the ad is implying that mexico would be the equivalent of what the US is now...notice how everything is in spanish...

  • It's funny. A little known fact is that when Abraham Lincoln was in Congress he tried to get the president impeached for waging a war of agression against Mexico. The war that changes this map into the one we know today. An absolut world indeed.
    ocanada
  • Yeah and Bush didnt get Impeached for his war of agression against Iraq either.
    An absolut world indeed.
    CalPerr
  • Well cal at least we don't ever have to ask why people worry about history repeating itself.
    ocanada
  • I'm proud to live in America and there is no reason to apologize...it's funny!
    dparra
  • ever think the apology was given to strike up conversations like this around the globe? just ponder for a second, when was the last time you actually had a conversation about absolut vodka when not drinking.
  • Absolutly not!
    Julie_Soller
  • What a load of crap! They should apologize for apologizing!

  • And if you notice, Canada is still Canada.

  • I love this ad. I find it ABSOLUT-ly bold, its a clear statement of ANTI-AMERICAN IMPERIALISM!!!!

    FASCINATING!!!
    chagotron
  • Sadly, FOX News Channel contributor and conservative blogger Michelle Malkin and a host of xenophobic pundits have chimed in on this topic all over the web with vows to boycott Absolut Vodka and its clever marketing campaign to advertise its product with a decidedly tongue-in-cheek message. Any calls for a boycott sound glib at best (a la "freedom fries"), and ultimately counterproductive. Is the next step a call for a U.S. trade barrier against Sweden and bans on Swedish meatballs and inexpensive modern furniture?

  • all right, 2 things. 1. california would not stand as it's own country, that's just stupid. and 2. borders ARE only imaginary lines, and as of now we control that area. it's not like europe has had the same borders for 300 years, our continent should be no different. i personally think the ad is funny, but to be angry about us control the land is infantile. if in the future they are able to take the land from us, which would be horrible for even an attempt at such a thing, then they will control it. then we can fight over it some more. it's a cycle that is far from being practiced soley by the americans.
