I have seen clips from this before. I invite the interviewer to talk to people in my city of Portland. I think there would be quite a difference in the answers.

I live in the south but I could answer all of those questions correctly, there's only one problem though, I'm a foreigner and I actually care about the world and what goes on in it besides just American interests, and I'm only fifteen...

And what's wrong with Sri Lanka? Poor Sri Lanka, first the Tsunami and now Americans hate it.

I have noticed that a lot of people who are answering these question have southern' accents. I wonder why that is....

I sadly have to admit though that I'm not sure what a mosque is.

But the map with the names of middle eastern countries on the land mass of Australia was hilarious.

This is exactly why we're in the political mess we're in today and why it was so effective. The Rove machine counted on these people. A sad, sad commentary on both our educational system and a total disconnect with the world around us. Like Crob points out, even our own President can't answer half of these questions. This video definitely shows the level of apathy we're swimming up stream against.

I can't even believe this. I've seen things like this before but they leave me jaw-dropped every time. Ask the same people who won last week's American Idol or what the latest Lohan scandal is- they could probably tell you.

What is perhaps most disturbing of all is that there is no shame. So many seem to wallow in their ignorance.

Sadly, we do not know how many dozens or even hundreds were interviewed to come up with the clips used.

I will admit that the video is probably showing a small portion of interviewed people who actually got those questions wrong; however, there should not be anywhere near that number of people not suffering from a mental handicap who cannot name a country that begins with the letter U. That is just plain pathetic.

well, sorry guys, i spend two, terrible, months in Salt Lake city, and nearly nobody could pine up the country I was living at that time, Switzerland, most of the time they thought it was an island!! think they mix with iceland! Anyway, that's the result when a country spend ten times more on army than education....

Yeah, dito with a big stick to what kevung said. The video's mildly funny, but they obviously edited out any halfway intelligent people they found, and chose to show the uneducated. There are uneducated people EVERYWHERE, and that doesn't automatically make them "Stupid."
The "all Americans are stupid" sentiment is getting beyond ridiculous. It's a popular opinion - so what? Thinking of black people as one step down the evolutionary ladder used to be popular as well, but it was just as dull-witted as any form of bigotry. We're talking about 300 million people, ya'll. Come ON.

Also, I think that anyone who says that "all Southerners are stupid" needs to take a step back and take a serious look at their own thought patterns. Bigotry is bigotry, no matter who you're raping with your Judgment Stick. Don't be a hypocrite.
