Blogged to death?

As blogging becomes big business (thats alot of b's), people who get paid to produce blogs are feeling the effects of a highly competitive 24/7 industry.

"...bloggers complain of weight loss or gain, sleep disorders, exhaustion and other maladies born of the nonstop strain of producing for a news and information cycle that is as always-on as the Internet." I'm sure a lot of people who use/work for this site can relate, trying to stay on top of instant news is difficult to say the least.

This article details the health concerns of staying up to date with everything that happens anywhere.

  • From an interview with Techcrunch's Michael Arrington re: keeping up with the news-

" a lot of news breaks at 9 at night and 11, 12, and so I'm usually up and kind of just try to wind down after that, and it's hard. Then I end up writing a couple more posts and suddenly it's 2 o'clock or 3 o'clock in the morning. But even when I don't have to write, I have some trouble falling asleep. It's not a healthy lifestyle."

Seems like he would agree with you this one. I personally find the internet to be exhausting, and addictive. Which is not healthy at all. But, I do try to use it in moderation.

  • actually, one of the guys had a heart attack. so, it's also heart attack by blogging.

btw, what's the difference between blogging and any other hard work with long hours? none.

two years from now there'll be a new story; death by twittering.

  • Ugh, I believe it. In an office where every second of the day is a deadline, watching for other blog outlets to break an embargo and leak a story so you can do the same, checking your email in the middle of the night... maybe these palpitations and this weight gain and a friend's Red Bull nosebleed are harbingers of things to come, huh.
