Eeek ... another terrifying story of a shark attack in Australia, this time a fatal one.
It sounds like a scene from Jaws and, indeed, the aftermath is just that, with the New Soutrh Wales government initiating a shark attack response plan, which effectively means "hunt and kill that shark".
There is always a lot of talk about this when attacks happen down here - should the shark be hunted or left alone? Personally, I think the latter. You venture into a shark's territory at your own risk. The fish's natural instinct to attack what it deems to be tasty treats in the water should not be a death sentence ... it's nature, plain and simple, not murder.
While I sympathise with the family and friends of the victim, killing the shark is a woeful way to deal with this situation.
