Pete Doherty jailed for 14 weeks

A spokesperson for the court said that Doherty had been jailed for "breach of time keeping, non-compliance of his order and using different drugs".

    I like the guy, I think he gets a bad press. Yes he's a drug addict, but he's not a horrible or evil person, he's just a little ill.

    I just think he should be treated the same as anyone else would be. Especially after he has been given so many second chances.

  • The problem of artists and drug addiction is nothing new. Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, Johnny Cash, and numerous others have done time or been incarcerated due to the proverbial monkeys on their backs. Maybe it's my Canadian-ness showing, but I really wish addiction would be regarded by our governments as an illness, not a crime.

    I'm glad to hear this news. This guy obviously doesn't care enough about himself to try and better himself so if he has to be jailed to make him come to realize what hes doing is killing him then so be it. I feel awful for people that fight addiction but to an extent. It is clear to everyone around him that he has a problem and he just continues to do nothing about it; for that I don't feel sorry for him one bit!
