People are calling this a major failure for the Bloomberg adminstration--but what's interesting here is that he doesnt have as much power as a quiet little man up in Albany--Sheldon Silver. That guy is the one who really calls the BIG SHOTS in New York State--including New York City--and he's mostly unaccountable to most of the NY Voting public (more people vote directly for Bloomberg that Silver--by a LONG SHOT).
As a former Queens(lander)--who left there about a year ago and YES--had a car. I did not support this initiative without first improving mass transit options. I know that could be considered the CART before the pricing plan--but its not fair in NEW YORK to TAX the poorer people on the outter borroughs in order to make the lives on those FAT CAT ELITES on Manhattan island move more smoothly.
I know that Manhattan, as the heart of the area is more diverse than that--but this is really something that I think should at minimum cost all New Yorkers equally--which this plan does not.
