Google is making a difference, again. Check out their new mapping feature which will allow users to track and update the movement in refugee camps. We need more groups to be involved in this kind of partnership with the UN.

hm, very interesting but I still find it hard to actually find the information advertised here - I think it still is tricky to compare refugee numbers though. Politicians in Britain seem to be always complaining about too many asylum seekers coming into the UK, but if trying to find out how many more are actually taken on in refugee camps of developing countries neighbouring major conflicts, then it is still difficult to be able to make a comparison.

I'm glad Google is taking some more human aspects into account in their programs. Their coverage of the fires in Southern California in Fall 2007 made it really handy for people to avoid heavy routes, or to know which routes out were the best.

Google is a giant business that does good things, but to truly care about human rights it shouldn't support censorship in China.

It's astonishing to see the living conditions of millions of people around the world. Are Americans to sensitive to be told what goes on in the world? I wonder, because the news tells me about pop idols, new fangled gadgets and squabbling politicians and people pretending to be survivors...do they feel we are incapable of putting our lives in perspective with consideration of the daily lives of our fellow man?
