Hungry mob attacks Haiti palace

Another case of violence due to the rising food prices. I feel like if someone doesn't intervene soon, we could be facing a world-wide riot.

I hope your not suggesting that WE intervene. America doesn't need to bail them out. Let the UN take care of that. Oh wait, they might drop the ball. (Google 'UN fails')

I think the UN is a failure as a governing world body in a lot of respects, but I still contribute to and listen to UNESCO.

They are releasing a report on global agriculture next week, here is a related passage and link:
"In Latin America and the Caribbean, increased yield from agricultural production has not led to a significant decrease in poverty, which still affects 37% of the population. Importing food has created dependence and disrupted local production. The authors recommend that governments prohibit the consumption and growing of genetically modified organisms in countries that are centres of origin of such crops, in order to prevent contamination and to preserve genetic diversity."

KINGSTON916, isn't that the same UN that won't let us drill of the cost of Florida but another country can? And are they the ones that are looking for a one world government?

    BlueDotProdux and 7c0m9,
Let make more biofuels, that way can starve the rest of the world out.

Haiti's problem is that it hasn't learned to be self sustaining. The government is corrupt, everybodys always looking out for themselves and they're using up all of their natural resources. If it was already a struggle to eat, any little ripple could cause this reaction. When food prices rise here, all we do is bitch about it.
