Recently, it looked as if Hillary Clinton had been caught telling another untrue story. It turns out that the story was essentially true, but what's interesting is how quickly people assumed Clinton was the one not telling the truth.

  • and according to the sources 'it was true' that there were WMD in Iraq.
The notion that we (the public) took the side of the hospital shows to what extent her credibility was damaged. Also, someone, for the money she has spent, ought to have checked the source.

Remember the comeuppance of the Rather. And he's only in the fourth branch of politics.

  • At first I wasn't going to comment, but I do have something to say about the subject. There is a general concenses today; that people involved in government lie; we watch, listen, read, news all the time, that are not factual. It is hard to even comment on a story and keep your own personal views from distorting what is documented facts.

Our society today is full of distortions, empty rhetoric, half truths and again plain out lies. I think it would be easy to hear what politicians tell us and doubt there honesty. We have been lied to so much in the past.

So who do we believe? It would be naive this day and time to listen to politicians and just believe every thing they tell us. More, no one will argue that even mainstream media can't be trusted.

I learned a way to investigate and find a closer source of truthful information, and that is follow the money. Who funds the foundation that is paying for the research is good to look at. As far as political figures and their honesty? I don't know many who don't lie. I am not being callus, just trying to be honest here myself.

  • The media is the one that has allowed this to happen in the first place. They are the one that allows speeches to be written all the time. We need to do it like in Brittan and allow each party to drill their opposition for an hour each week on national television.

  • Hear Say doesn't hold up in the court of public opinion

  • jlaboy - i beg to differ - hear say is what the great
'unwashed masses" always believe - it is usually a much better story than the truth.

a prominent CEO steals, cheats, lies and now all CEOs are tainted - to the point where some can not even get a fair legal trial

all lawyers must be rich, unethical, jerks - i know plenty who are anything but

Stereotypes / and the court of public opinion / are what drive the way many of the close minded people of the world think.

open your mind look to the real truth behind any story and you will find that in many cases it is very different than what you first heard

  • One lie doth not a liar make, but a consistent pattern throughout a lifetime of so called public service can justify the assumption that if the suspect's lips are moving, some form of prevarication or another is involved.

Hillary's former supervisor when she was Watergate Prosecutor fired her for lying and unethical conduct. But it didn't start there and it doesn't stop there. Check out her letters from her dorm room in college to see the profile of a borderline sociopath or at least of multiple personas searching for a personality.

And the predictable progression continues from there.

SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME HOW WE CAN TEST THIS EXPOSE’ FOR VALIDITY. SNOPES.COM SAYS THE MURDER PART NEVER HAPPENED BUT THEY DON’T SAY HOW THEY KNOW THAT. IS THIS ALL SWIFTBOAT OR JUST PART OF IT? HOW DOES A FACT CHECKER PROVE A NEGATIVE?

  • If she was going to tell the story, then she should get facts straight and not second hand.

Is she practicing for plausible denialability by depending on the sheriff?

  • This is the story of the “Politician that cried Truth”.

Give me a break, a second hand story being repeated by a possible future President without checking it out?? Are we playing telephone?? We’ll, I heard it was a…

The sad smell of desperation is in the air, or is that perspiration?

  • So she got the story...second hand?

If you're going to cite someone's story, you might want to get the facts directly from them, even if they're lying. That way, you can say, hey I got it straight from the horses mouth. I'm not the liar, they are! Since it seems she can't even get her own experiences right, is it so far stretch to automatically think she was embellishing again. Not fair, but not far-fetched.

  • The fact that liberals and Democrats are now doubting Clinton's word as their default position makes it hard to think that swing voters in the general election are going to give her the benefit of the doubt.

If Clinton's own base is doubting her veracity, that doesn't seem to speak well of her electability, it seems to me.

  • The media has done their job well.

  • Hold on mpgegcto, give me one second..........ok mind open. Man you are right, she was really trying to tell a story that was tragic, and not trying to get the sympathy vote on a stump with out getting her facts straight. Man, how could anyone think any different. Thank you so much for opening my eyes. As far as all lawyers being lying jerks, you said it, not me. I just think the ones running for office fit the bill.

  • the fact of the matter is that somewhere someone was deinied the help they needed becouse of insurance reasons. hillorys useing it as in example for a change in heath care.which is a good thing.

  • Yes people were quick to assume Hilary made up another story, but it's precisely this mixture of truth and untruth that is hilary's real problem. It rings back to her husband's way of bending the truth. Remember "I didn't inhale..technically" and "I didn't have sexual relations with Monica"...technically.

To most Americans, Politicians are don't represent the pillars of truth or even close to it.

The bottom line is something that is "essentially true" is really not the truth or Is it? Now, I can't remember.

  • Whether that particular story is true or not is (or should not be) the issue. The point is that innocent people are refused coverage and die all the time due to our ridiculous health care system. This point should not be overlooked because "it wasn't told right."

Hillary should tell the story because it is a representative story of what is going on all across the nation though not widely reported in the mass media. It is a story that people need to hear.
  • That is a good point since the matter of the lack of heath care coverage is an important issue. It has been reported on most extensively in the movie "Sicko" Micheal Moore can exaggerate facts there to make a dramatic effect since it makes for better storytelling.

The problem is that you would think that Clinton would've done more research on the facts of the case if she was going to use that story as an example since if she can't even get that accurate, how is she going to get a solution to the greater problem of the failure of the health system to work correctly?

Is it going to be plausible denialability in that case too, that she depended on people that didn't have all the facts straight so the plan to solve the health care crisis fails also?
