The content, which Scientology has legally requested to be removed from the site, represents OT (Operating Thetan) "levels" I to VIII and "NOTs" with a portion of the material written in Hubbard's own distinctive handwriting.
Although various elements of the OT has previously appeared, most notably in the so-called "Fishman Affidavit," the cult has been aggressive and hitherto largely successful in preventing public dissemination.
What will be the effect of the full document been leaked?

Wikipedia states: "Freedom of information legislation, also described as open records or (especially in the United States) sunshine laws, are laws which set rules on access to information or records held by government bodies."
As Scientology is no government body, these documents don't fall under FOI legislation.

I wonder, would information like this fall under the freedom of information act?

According to Wikipedia, the documents were released by the group called 'Anonymous', which were also protesting against Scientology worldwide several months ago.

At least someone objective has a chance now to try and separate all the facts from the hype and clear up what the propaganda about it is divorced from the distortions on both sides.
It might be able to get a clearer view by shining the light on what they've been trying to hide so vigorously.

This has actually been an item on WikiNews of 26th of March. But it has not been reported that widely, maybe because of Scientology's lawyers are very aggressive against anybody who tries to critisise the organisation.
