  • What do you think about the UK PM not attending the opening ceremony?

  • I think this is totally brave of him. With so much going on over there and all the protest happening world wide, I am just not sure the Olympics are going to be safe for the people of Beijing and the athletes from around the world who will be there. The Olympics are a showing of a united world for a peaceful competition and I just don't see that happening!

  • Good old Gordon Brown... making a stand in the face of criticism from China and echoing the views of those who protested when the torch was in London recently.

Ah, no, wait... he'll still be going to the closing ceremony. What a stand!

  • Any western leader's criticism of China's occupation of Tibet is completely hypocritical. If we're boycotting the Beijing Olympics will we be boycotting the London Olympics too?... Because last time I looked we were occupying Iraq... not to mention the hundreds of other countries we have invaded and occupied over the years.

I'm not saying China doesn't do some bad stuff, I'm just saying we do too.

  • Calling his not attending an event he had not even said he was attending a boycott is certainly putting some spin on it.

Before we all lay into China pointing our moral fingers in disapproval and cheering our politicians for more bashing it might be worth knowing a thing or two about the history of China and Tibet.
