The pesticides scheduled for spraying all over the Bay Area and other parts of California this summer and fall is said to be harmless to humans and other animals, and yet some people in counties already sprayed have reported respiratory problems and asthmatic symptoms.
This article says that the pesticides will consist mosly of "pheromones" - a sort of birth control for the reproductive cycle of the moths in question.
So will this help or harm humans? Will our breathing of fresh air be compromised?

the problem that i have w/the posted link is that it doesn't give you all the information. ...also, unless i overlooked it, i didn't see that they were specifically talking about the Check-mate spray that they plan on using in SF. (after all, new zealand dealt w/a similar moth problem, but they used a different pesticide.)
according to the California Dept of Food and Agriculture, most of the spray is comprised of pheromones, as well as other 'inert' ingredients, that pose no threat to animals or humans.
HOWEVER, just in case the spray DOES negatively affect SF residents, they've covered their asses by saying that 'if a sufficient amount of large particles is inhaled, it is PLAUSIBLE that it could cause irritation of the throat, coughing, sneezing, and excess mucus production in the upper respiratory system.'
there's a good chance that some of us may inhale 'a sufficient amount,' considering that they're planning on spraying affected areas after they witness TWO life cycles of the moth's mating disruption. -
sadly, i don't think that we're going to generate enough opposition to the pesticide spraying.
also, Check-mate is manufactured by Suttera Inc, which is owned by Steve Resnick. ...who donated $144,000 to schwarzenegger's election efforts last year.
hmmm...
