On April 9, thousands of supporters and protestors gathered in San Francisco for the passing of the Olympic torch.

I think they had enough security surrounding the torch to let it run undisturbed on the original route. I feel it saddening for the protesters and supporters alike who planned for so long to see the torch.

the route change in SF is a significant victory for the FREE TIBET protestors
I am sure any reference to protests was censored from the Chinese media
thank you preserving this history -
You guys did an incredible job with this; 2 Olympic torches up!

I'm impressed. This story showed a lot more info. and a much closer view of what was really happening on the streets than what I learned from CNN. I think there is something to be said for this kind of journalism. Well done.

Its a shame for the "average" person who just wanted to see the Olympic torch. Hopefully, though, it got people thinking and researching the happenings in Tibet and China.
Personally I wish the Olympics were divorced from the politics of the issues. Sadly it is both China and protesters who are using the Olympics as a stage to speak from. -
whoa!! i wish you could cover this in each city. That would be cool. Raw and good. I liked it...and I like the balance of the two perspectives...

Christof,
Excellent job bro! I was there too and I like how accurate you covered the event. My best friend and I were the two with green -peace- painted faces ,'fros, and the Save Darfur signs! You must have seen us cuz i caught my friend Laura in the background of one of the shots.

i loved the pod. but i have to say that I'm kind of up in the air about the issue that the pod presents. its smart to protest the Tibet/China issue by attacking the Olympics that are being held in China because obviously, it gets the media coverage it deserves and people's voices are heard. But its wrong to get in the way of what might be the only international tradition in the world because of the issues between China and Tibet

this was great pod; footage & all. & I wish I could be at home running around the city shadowing the torch.
but I think we're still missing the other side of the story. I know my Chinese-American roommate would try to choke me if she knew how upset I was about the Olympics in China this year. -
I really enjoyed this pod. I like it in the sense that it provides us with so much information without making it boring...thanks Current!
About the China Olypmic thing, I really don't know what to think. I understand where they're coming from, but then it's the Olympics. It's just a very complicated situation.-

its sad that the chinese people of the world cant experience the pride of hosting the olympics. but i do think the world should boycott the olympics and send a message to the leaders of china that we wont turn a blind eye to the oppression of the tibetian people.
