Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, the main suspect in the killing of 20-year-old (pregnant) Marine Maria Lauterbach was captured in Mexico. Lauterbach's charred body, and that of her fetus were found in a pit in Laurean's backyard in North Carolina. He fled to Mexico and survived eating fruits and avocados and hiding in fields.

-
"The Marine Corps took no action to protect Lauterbach despite an assault on her and vandalism to her car, Turner said." Way to go jerks.
I hope this guy doesn't get off on the "crazy defense".
...and what about his wife? Just cause for divorce, I'd say.-

What's really strange is that when he was found in Mexico he gave his real name and when they ran his records he didn't give any resistance. I haven't read to many stories where an obviously guilty criminal just gives in...
Although he's obviously guilty of a terribly sick crime, it could be interesting to hear his side of the story. -
Hurray, hurray, what a loathsome person and such a heinous crime he has committed. I am overjoyed to hear that he has been caught and will finally face justice.
-
watch this comment being used hereDoes anybody else think that running away from the scene of a crime only makes you look more guilty?
-
Unfortunate she died, and so gruesomely, perhaps being burned to death.
yes, it should be interesting to find out if he committed the purported rape or not, if possible. too bad no info on the nature of the relationship. can they still do DNA testing on charred remains? I guess, apparently so... (googling: "After the inferno at the Branch Davidian complex in Waco, Texas, DNA was the only way to confirm identities from many of the charred remains...") -
marines are trained to kill enemies, and even rappers don't condone killing baby mama's.
the guy just like former nfl star ray caruth of the carolina panthers is a coward.
the bottom line is fellas if you don't want to raise your kid and the girl you "hung" out with gets preggo because of your time spent together, well you get child support. deal with it and invest in trojans.
the military will never get involved in personal matters. i can only tell you how many calls i got at my recruiting office from chicks around el paso who had kids with sailor so and so and needed child support.
i'm a kid from a single parent mother home and although i've forgiven my dad for his walk out on us. i don't respect he did it and anyone who does the same thing to their respective family. so i did the proper thing i would always give my name and the number to the ship.
a couple of days later it never failed i would always get a call or a pull aside having a higher up tell me to mind my own f-ing business.
protect your own is the code of the branches, but some higher up who knew this was going down should kill themselves. because this poor woman was just as much as a marine as any fella with a sack between his legs.
honor, courage, and commitment to what? in this poor woman's case there was no honor code. everyone who knew and was involved no matter the level of involvement is as culpable as Cesar Laurean in the death of Maria Lauterbach.
-horrible -
oh and he has no side of the story he set a girl on fire and buried her like a nigerian goat dinner. i'm not interested in his side of the story. just let him say goodbye to his family and put him in a pit and set him ablaze.
horrible -
sexual promiscuity is staple of military life, even for women. might be interesting to find out before you burn him if he actually was the father. they might have more next of kin to notify...
-
oh I forgot. they CAN do DNA on charred remains =D
-
good news that this dude got caught. he should get the max punishment.
