Some chimps in Senegal use spears to hunt mammals, a discovery that has rocked primatology. Now scientists believe the behavior may offer insights into our ancestors.
I think it's the future of these animals that we should be watching if you know what I mean.

In honour of the late Charleston Heston. "Get your hands of me you Damned Dirty Apes!"
-
and dolphins perform routine gang rapes on female dolphins.
the value of studying chimps is their tie to human ancestry, as soon as they begin to flint nap and create fire, im gonna go live with some chimps. at least they will be a more productive society than the one i currently exist in. -
Do dolphins really gang rape female dolphins Prodius, or were you just being facetious?...because I take everything I see on this site as fact, and I can't go around telling people that female dolphins get gang raped all the time if you're just joking. It's like the time my grandmother told me she walked through a rainbow.

Prodius, should I be laughing? Because I'm laughing.
My husband just asked me what I was reading, and I had to tell him that I was reading about female dolphins getting gang raped. It sounded crazy out loud.
Thanks for the link. -

bro that is too funny. but if the dolphins expect it, is it rape?

expecting it or accepting it?

No one, or any creature for that matter would be expecting rape...or else it wouldn't be rape. But my question is, how do we know it's rape. Perhaps it's how they do things. Are these people able to get first hand accounts about how these female dolphins are feel after the incident? Are they withdrawn or depressed and crying? I dunno. Something's fishy 'bout this hole thing.
Hey, did anyone notice this story was about chimps? Go figure. -
Yeah i kind of side tracked the post. I was merely trying to say that there are many examples of animal behavior which is similar to humans. Dolphins are one of, if not the only other species besides humans which have sex for enjoyment.
The chimps using spears is another variation of using reeds as fishing poles for termites. I was saying that although chimps are learning, i will be more fascinated when they begin to create fire and develop early stone tools because even we bashed things over the heads with rocks back in Australopithecus' times.
This link is an example of how a group of humans just does things. Is it any less wrong? One of humanity's strengths is our ability to recognize injustice (eventually) and at least make a passive/aggressive attempt to fix it rather than just continue with the way things always used to be done.

Well said. I thought the dolphin bit was very interesting none-the-less.
