Texas Rangers on Saturday met with -- but did not arrest -- the man accused by a teenage girl of physically and sexually abusing her at a polygamist compound.
An affidavit says "Sarah," 16, said Dale Evans Barlow, shown in 2005, beat her and forced her to have sex.
Arizona probation officials said the meeting with Dale Evans Barlow, 50, happened just across the Arizona state line in St. George, Utah.
"The Texas Rangers met with him. He was allowed to go, and no arrest was made," said Friend Walker, director of the Mojave County, Arizona, probation office.
Barlow's attorney, Bruce Griffen, said the meeting was voluntary.
He said he and Barlow are working to gather evidence that his client could not have been in Texas when the crimes are said to have happened.

This is such a distressing story. The whole "rape bed" thing, where girls were beaten and raped right after a marriage ceremony?... So much for a beautiful blushing bride. More like a bruised bride - no honeymoons there. :(

sexual abuse of children by their parents in Amish as well as other religious like these polygamists and Mormon communities has much evidence to support it, even Catholicism has their choir boy fetish. it is distressing to me Tori, that the topic remains completely ignored until the one case gets picked up by the news as though this was completely unheard of in history until that moment.
our society has been damaged for hundreds if not thousands of years of this kind of patriarchal dominance crap. -
watch this comment being used hereFrom what I've heard this guy is claiming mistaken identity. The name is right, just not the man. No idea how true or false this may be though.
I would think before the arrest they would have the accuser look at pictures of him to be sure they have the right person. Maybe I've watched one too many Law And Orders....-

I wish it was some kind of detector that can screen these sort of people out. We have preachers, pastors, fathers, teachers, policeman, fire fighters, government officials and other sick people preying on our children. Maybe we should teach all of them to do karate very early. I taught my children how to use their keys and pencils incase a predator attack them.
Abuse is abuse no matter what kind it is. Our jails are already full of these people, then they register as a sex offender in the morning and rape some child on their way home. Sick, sick, sick-

Long story short is these people are just flat out crazy. The only thing that makes this alittle bit better is people always get what they deserve in this life or the next

He sure looks like a rapist to me. Not that I want to judge someone by their looks, but he does look like a creep. Stop calling him a polygamist, if he did what they say he did, he is a pedophile and a rapist.
-
yup...he's even got the rapist glasses

Here's my question; if this guy goes to prison, does he get multiple conjugal visits?

He's lucky the Rangers are giving him the benefit of the doubt. If he had a middle-eastern name, he probably would have been arrested and rendered to another country.

Is it just me or is our judical system getting worse every year in regards to sexual abuse of children?
-
The doings of this cult leaves one utterly speechless. In this day and age, to have this going on, in THIS country! Shocking. Really.

Forced to marry a 50-year-old with six wives when just 18 ... One woman's harrowing tale of escaping the Texas polygamist sect...
-
They let him go free?! This just sends the message it marry as many minors as you want, commit statutory rape, be a pedophile, live on a polygamist compound, and say you did it in the name of religion; because that makes it okay. Only in America! Oh, the hypocrisy. I am disgusted beyond believe.

There is a larger problem with sex exploitation than the country cares to admit. The country only cares when it involves religious people, but it's OK when it's 13 year old girls dressing like whores and sending nude photos of themselves via cell phones. That's considered normal!!! Our culture has sexploited our children to the point where nobody knows right from wrong. It's not just religion, it's in our schools, homes, and everywhere. We need to blame society as a whole, not just point fingers at crazy religion.
