Sam, a tennessee dog, embarks on a 2.5 day, 6 mile trek, to arrive at his owner's funeral, just before the ceremony begins.

OMG! This is just such an insane story. Sign of Angels I tell you! Angels!

that's insane. but cool. although i have heard stuff like this happening before, it's still an awsome reminder about the acute senses that dogs have and how they can find their owner out of a crowd, this is a fricken awsome event

Pets are woderful. I love that famous quote that says, "I aspire to be as wonderful as my dog thinks I am."
-
that's a great quote. I would wear a t-shirt that says that.
(and I hate wearing t-shirts that say things)-

Every boy should have 2 things; a dog and a mother willing to let him have one.
-
poor thing! its hard to lose a family member.you would think they would take that electric collar off him!!!

My cat would always wait at the window for my mother to come abut 3 minutes before she arrived... and she didn't have a routine so it wasn't a learnt behaviour... that said I also had an unbelievably stupid cat that would constantly try to walk through walls so, you know... I suppose you get brilliant and stupid animals, just as you do humans...
-
Hang on, two and a half days to walk six miles?! That dog might be clever but it certainly isn't fit.
-
aaaah that's a really nice story, we forget animals grieve too.
-
That's why I don't understand how people can be so cruel to them. This reminds me of a Victorian dog, somekindof furrie terrier mix. His owner died, the dog was left to his best freinds, the dogescaped everydayfortherestof his life re-turning
to the grave, andwould lay on the very ground covering his marster until heeventually died too.
there'sa statueof thedog some where in London. It was a memorial for him and howhe's still known today. -
Yes, steadward, steventhompson has the link to that story posted way up there on this thread. So loyal and unconditional these friends of ours.
-
That's surreal! What a beautiful thing to happen.
-
Bless the little guy....but this is also so sad.
-
I love this story I think it’s remarkable that a dog who has never gone to that church before would know where to go. All I can say is simply amazing!
-
Omg that looks like my little guy! So cute, I love it!

Dogs are true angels - they are more aware and compassionate than any of us know. Wonderful story.

I have an english bull terrier called Trench...don't ask! He just really likes to roll round in the naurally grown fish pond we have and had a brutal history.
wonder if he'd do that for me, he's very affectinate and a daftold freinly giant! -
Truly worthy of being called man's bestfriend, don't you think?
-
Worthy for definate, but so are my tortoises, chickens, turkeys, parrot, budgies, canary, kackerikis and kitten, as well as my old dogy.
-
awww this story is so touching...makes me think of my doggy!!
-
Dogs and animals in general have a profound sensitivity and a capacity for emotions that we can't even comprehend!
-

Amazing story! I wonder if I would have fainted at the church if I were a member of the man's family.

Shows that in Tennessee dogs are more intelligent than humans.

They just know somehow.

cool . it's usually the case that my dogs try to hasten my demise by attacking me when i try to leave them ( separation anxiety ) , and if they keep trying hard enough i won't be having a funeral - they'll be having a nice dinner on me .

I heard of a cat that did the same thing. In Fort Benton, Montana (USA) there is a statue of Shep. Every day Shep would go the train station to wait for his master to return from work. One day his master was killed and never returned. Shep returned to the train station every day until he died many years later. And as to the electric collar it might have been from an invisible fence they had, or a training aid. I use E-collars as the best and most human way to train a dog- if you really want to know why-email me- but please, no hate mail- I know how people who don't like E-collars, so there is no reason to send me mail to that effect.
