A new form of cloning has been developed that is easier to carry out than the technique used to create Dolly the sheep, raising fears that it may one day be used on human embryos to produce "designer" babies.
Scientists who used the procedure to create baby mice from the skin cells of adult animals have found it to be far more efficient than the Dolly technique, with fewer side effects, which makes it more acceptable for human use...

I think having the ability to clone specific parts of humans is a great development and shows how far both science and technology have come. But I just wonder how long it will be until someone starts to use the techniques 'inappropriately'.
-
and I wonder how long it will be, before we start catching up with the past 25,000bc

i agree with mattbrawn. cancer patients, gunshot/stabbing victims, diseased and dieing people who need transplants of some sorts can wait a few weeks instead of years to get an exact dna matched organ. how do people not realize the positive affects this can have on humans?
yes there is another side to this. people use every technology out there to its unintended purposes. its going to be discovered, used, flaunted and bastardized whether we want it to be or not -
Ain't there enough of us here already?
-
natural growth rates will hardly be affected by this considering few people would be able to afford it when it comes to the designer baby issues
-
Extremely controversial with or without side effects. Even though some people won't have a problem with it, a lot of other people might protest.
