Bush met with his Cabinet on Monday to discuss global food shortages and the civil unrest that is developing in underprivileged countries. Bush hopes to increase food aid to ease the tensions in trouble areas. No clear plan was indicated, though.

Sure, we'll spend more money we don't have flying food (moldy grain and rice) to the warlords, gangs and rebels of all the run down nations...

It is not food aid that is needed, it is the immediate ceasing of growing and using food crops for biofuel.

Compassionate conservatism at work. -
He "took action" a day after meeting with top finance officials...he is not concerned about a food shortage, he is concerned about economics. Bush is no humanitarian, never has been, never will be.

Bush has no desire to address humanitarian aid. (Bush doesn't care about black people, brown people, yellow people, white people, poor people, ....) In the age of disaster capitalism Bush would confront this issue as way for private companies contribute to gain publicity. That is a great thing, but will it be sufficient? He would also be likely to hire a defense contractor to distribute any said food aid. Mass food shortages create civil unrest and conflict. Are we ready for that on a global scale?
