Successful Peace Maker Jimmy Carter Shunned By Israel As He Attempts Peace There

Former US President Jimmy Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize winner who brokered the first Arab-Israeli peace accord, is being shunned by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Defence Minister Ehud Barak.

Why? Because the former President wants to talk with Hamas in Palestine as well. The Israeli government is afraid of Jimmy. Israel has alot they do not want to talk about because Israel has broken their own laws as well as International laws by continuing to rob the Palestinians of their land. Israeli government continues to murder innocent children and people. Israeli government continues to block much needed medical supplies as well as food going into Palestine.

If someone robs you of your land, aren't you going to fight for it?

That is the reason why there is so much hate and discontent in the Mid East. Israel continues to take advantage of the Palestinians who have no budget for self defense. Israelis unlimited defense budget is supplied by the US government (without the peoples permission).

Israel needs to change their arrogant and selfish, greedy ways. Maybe when they do give back the land to Palestine, they will do what the US government did for the Native Americans in return for the stolen land and murdering that happened to them. Casinos?

  • I read that Obama, Clinton, Bush, Rice and the lot of them disagreed with his mission there. (?) Just shows you that presidential candidates can't really speak about peace if it goes against AIPAC. I think Jimmy Carter deserves a lot of credit for doing this.

  • Jimmy Carter seeking Peace in the Middle East. It's hard to believe they don't want Peace in the Middle East? I can't understand their reasoning? Jimmy Carter is willing to go against the tide trying to rescue the victims of war. He cares about the people affected by war, not just politics. Jimmy Carter is a man with courage and conviction!

  • I am ashamed of both democratic candidates (especially Obama) for decrying Carter's meeting with Hamas. Seems the vote of Israeli sympathizers in this election is more important than middle east peace.

  • 4>JanForGore....Some Interesting things about AIPAC......In 1992, AIPAC president David Steiner was forced to resign after he was tape recorded boasting about his political influence in obtaining aid for Israel. Steiner claimed that he had "met with (then Bush U.S. Secretary of State) Jim Baker and I cut a deal with him. I got, besides the $3 billion, you know they're looking for the Jewish votes, and I'll tell him whatever he wants to hear ... Besides the $10 billion in loan guarantees which was a fabulous thing, $3 billion in foreign, in military aid, and I got almost a billion dollars in other goodies that people don't even know about." Steiner also claimed to be "negotiating" with the incoming Clinton administration over who Clinton would appoint as Secretary of State and Secretary of the National Security Agency. Steiner stated that AIPAC had "a dozen people in [the Clinton] campaign, in the headquarters... in Little Rock, and they're all going to get big jobs."

Haim Katz told The Washington Times that he taped the conversation because "as someone Jewish, I am concerned when a small group has a disproportionate power. I think that hurts everyone, including Jews. If David Steiner wants to talk about the incredible, disproportionate clout AIPAC has, the public should know about it."

Folks, this Lobby is just the tip of the iceberg. Without it, we would have peace in the Mideast already. Its all about greed and power.

  • jimmy Carter is the only person from the American goverment that is on the right track. We must not take side in a war in which the US funds the murder of people based on who they worship. Why do you think they call the US the wicked west. If you are and Americans traveling abroad you really have to watch your backs depending on where your going. It should not be that way. Jimmy carter has balls as big as the planet. We as Americans should not get involved in a religious conflicts. Are we the protectors of life and liberty of the world or the perpetuators of propaganda deceit.

  • Jimmy Carter continues to lead after being President. George W. never learned how to lead. He decided it was more fun being a 'Decider'. His fun has come at our expense and we will be paying for years to come. Sad! We could have had a 'Leader', but the Supremes knew better, they chose the 'Decider'! I cried when they circumvented millions of our votes, using their nine votes. Al Gore is a 'Leader'; today, tomorrow and always.

  • I agree Al Gore is doing things that change the way people look at the world, through his information with the green project on globle warming. I think we should pay more attention to the things that effect us here, the increase in the cost of living. There is a lot of people loosing their homes and can't afford health care, gas prices are through the roof jobs lost to other countries, just to name a few. The list is long I want to protect the enviroment, so that the human race survives so they can enjoy this lovely planet .

  • Wow! That's saying a lot! First of all, your beloved Nobel Peace Prize winner is the reason why we have our current our "issue" with Iran right now. The US and Iran had a beautiful relationship with Iran's Shah, until good ol' religious Jimmy was intimidated by the Shah's secular power and prestige, and decided that he would knock this up-and-coming country off its feet by causing a coup which drove the Shah out of Iran and brought in the mullahs, which have spouted their radical Islamic hate for everything Western every since.

As to Carter being successful in causing Hamas to accept Israel, did anyone read about how it was only a temporary truce (10 years), that all Israel has to do is give up its hard fought land for it, and that though Hamas would not fight Israel for 10 years, it still would not recognize it as a legitimate state? Did anyone read about how The Carter Center is inundated with Saudi money, such that Carter is an official Arab lapdog now?

Now as to Israel's legitimacy, did you know that both Jews and Arabs have continuously occupied Israel for the past few millenia, such that they both have a right to be there now?

If you want to talk about soft power, or diplomacy, then Israel won the United Nation's vote to establish it as a state.

If you want to talk about hard power, then consider that the Romans took Israel away from the Jews by force millenia ago, it changed hands many times, and then the entire Arab world was forced into the will of Allah by the sword of Islam in one huge drawn out bloodbath which is mandated in the Koran, and now the Arabs are complaining that a small speck of this land has been taken from them by Israel.

You might say "of course they are complaining, they lived on that land for centuries", but the Arabs left Israel of their own volition, after the surrounding Arab countries instructed them to leave so that they can kill all the Jews and subsequently allow the Arabs to reoccupy their land. Unfortunately for those Arab states which attacked Israel continuously in the past 60 years, and for the Palestinians who fled Israel hoping that they would come back when their neighbors had killed every last Jew, Israel won every last one of those wars. Now they complain?

Please. Just because you're liberal does not mean you have to be uneducated (in fact, most liberals are highly educated, but they are so used to supporting the underdog that they can't stand to support Israel, even if justice is on its side).

If the Palestinians, or any Arab country for that matter, had any brains, they would seek to work with, and not against the Israelis. Consider this: Jews went to Las Vegas, and made a desert bloom into one of the richest, most visited tourist attractions in the world, bringing in much of the tax dollars which supports Americans. Jews went to California, created an industry (film) out of thin air, and made another desert bloom (yes, California is a desert). Then Jews went to Israel, and against all odds, while being constantly attacked, made a third desert bloom! They literally grow oranges and flowers where sand used to be!

And look at the Palestinians...they live torchered lifestyles, are hungry, and do not have basic infrastructure. Their leaders steal all international aid to fatten their Swiss bank accounts, and the international community uses them as a pawn to keep their competitor (Israel) in check (if you don't believe me, observe Britain's historic policy of divide and conquer, where they draw maps so that rival countries, such as India and Pakistan, or Israel and Palestine, are always living next door to one another, but with Israel there is an added twist, because Israel was created with a Palestine to its west and east...how convenient).

If the Palestinians ever wisened up, and cared more about their lives than about Israel's death, they'd stop trying to kill Israelis and work with them to make their own desert bloom.

  • You can't question my intelligence, let's not go there What difference does it make who did what first, the bottom line is we need peace in those areas that fight for their beliefs. In many cases there are two rights in the mind set of the parties ivolved. Let's not finger point instead let us discuss a resolution that would stop the violence. Sometimes simply solution fix complicated problems. We must not live in the pass, no matter what has happened in the pass we can't do anything to change that. What is to come is what we have the power to control, take your heart out of the pass and bring your mind, heart, and soul into the present
