Prosecutors asked that the Paris court give Brigitte Bardot, the 73 yr old former sex symbol, a two-month suspended prison sentence and fine her 15,000 euros ($23,760) for saying the Muslim community was "destroying our country and imposing its acts".
Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Bardot has become a prominent animal rights activist but she has also courted controversy by denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries.

Prosecuting an old lady for speech...what is that, liberty, equality or fraternity?

well we recognize her speeches on animal rights as valid and commendable- should we overlook just her negative comments as 'old lady' babble?

I should have said, "Prosecuting anyone for speech," because I just think that's ridiculous, no matter how ignorant or idiotic her statements. Plus, she's getting up there in years (she's 74) which to me just makes it sillier. I don't mean to suggest we shouldn't find her speech distasteful, just not illegal...
