13 Year Old Prophet of Doom

A 13 year old boy's science fair project paints a grim prediction for our future. The asteroid apophis, what is known as a near earth object in cosmological terms was thought to have a one in 4,500 chance of hitting the earth, according to the boy's calculations which NASA has now confirmed the liklihood is much higher at one in 450 that Apophis will strike the Earth. The reason being other orbiting obects in the asteroids path which will alter its direction and bring it closer to Earth. Apophis and the threat it poses has caused a UN joint project to be initiated to prevent such impacts from occuring.

In this year a primary was decided by teen voters, the Smithsonian gets bested by a fifth grader, and now NASA is having one of its most critical calculations retooled by a teenager, us whippernapers are on a roll!
