Censorship on Current?

Taking it to the streets - so to speak.

So, I've been locked out of my email account on Current TV. I wonder if this is a technical problem the IT department is incapable of fixing, or is it something else?

Additionally, I've attempted to contact the tech department, left numerous emails and even called in for weeks now - to no avail.

What's up Current?

Any one else or am I just lucky?

  • I noticed that when I am traveling and visit a friend who has a MAC, I am not able to open my current mail. I can see there is a new mail to read but it does not open. I know nothing about MAC systems so I cannot say if that is an issue with Current or MAC or just a bad combination. I am certain there are many MAC users here.

  • I switch back and forth between Firefox and Safari too. It might be storing a bad internet cache in your browser? I don't know.

    well, good question! I'm sorry to hear about this! especially after the length you've gone through Voyager', it sure looks like Current doesn't have much of a good excuse if they've remained completely mum! If they are [censoring] they should inform you as a courtesy, and not let you derive it after the fact. On a couple threads I've gotten a bit "testy" in, =P hehehe, I learned they don't let you know as to when that thread has been updated...maybe in their hopes to diffuse the "heatedness." =D but they have been kind enough to allow me to continue to post. but what exactly their "policy" is I admit I haven't read or heard really (does that mean I don't exactly care either??? iono lol) I know we're supposed to "follow the rules," but who has time for all that legalese-like bs; maybe you should start digging a little.

    when did you notice it Voyager'??? was it around any update to the site? I recall that my e-mail was not accessible either after a recent "update" either. It came back on in time however.... I wonder if something more fatal/destructive happened to your account perhaps during one of those prior updates, and you just so happen to be a marginal concern to them...sucks. Especially having to speculate because they don't respond.

    Maybe if you make some noise and get outta hand a little bit they might notice you Voyager' =D quit being so dam politically correct =P hehe

    Seriously though, I hope you get some resolution on this!

    We're looking into this issue, but right now, the best bet is to browse the site with Firefox or Internet Explorer.

    We always let you know if we remove a comment of yours from the site. If you aren't getting these emails, please check your spam filter to make sure that we're able to get through.

    As for comment notifications, they do cut off after a certain number. We've had some threads get pretty long, and we don't want to overwhelm people's inboxes. This is based on the number of responses, not how heated the debate is.

    I tried Firefox, and guess what? It worked - but not on Safari any longer.

  • I am having problems with Safari loading so I can relate. Setting everything up to work in all three browsers is a royal pain in the NECK. not just current trust me.

  • As Steph mentioned, if we can use an alternative browser in the interim it would be fab. The mail seems to be an intermittent on Safari. And the viewcount on Firefox has been somewhat atypical since pulling through the new build.

  • By the time I woke up and found your message (time zone differences) it appears as though the crisis had already been averted. Glad to hear all is well now, VoyagerFilms. Current is one of the last sites on the Internet where I would expect censorship anyway. Perhaps sabotage by that group of right-wing Christ-o-fascist zealots who try to pack the Viewpoints section with gang postings denying the existence of global climate change and basic rights (gay, same-sex marriage, choice, freedom from theocracy, etc.). Their lemming-like lack of imagination gives them away - use of identical catch phrases and the fact that they all apparently recorded their posts in the same common area office space. But top-down censorship from Current itself? That would come as quite a shock.

    I've got a MAC and use Firefox pretty much all the time since I have never had any compatibility problems with it and any of the applications use or websites I hit. Can't say the same for Safari, especially when it comes to using the ad posting software on eBay.

  • tommy guns I wouldnt go that far, I too have been complaining for weeks. As for not censoring, um I wouldnt go that far to say current wouldnt, aside from this post, I've retired from posting.
