Dallas strip club will not lose license over 12 year old stripper

Image...
That's right. A sixth grader was found to be dancing nude at a Dallas area strip club.

The mere fact that a 12-year-old girl danced nude at a northwest Dallas strip club isn't enough to close its doors.

That's because the city ordinance that regulates sexually oriented businesses does not allow authorities to revoke the license of such a business for employing someone under the age of 18.

The sixth-grader danced at Diamonds Cabaret over a two-week period late last year, authorities say. They also say they found a 17-year-old girl working in the club in January.
Diamonds Cabaret

"If they're not shut down, it's like they're giving them permission to have underage girls dancing and working in that club," said the mother of the 12-year-old. The mother is not being named because her daughter, a runaway at the time of the incident, is considered a sexual assault victim.

I think that the U.S. Federal Justice Department should step in here and shut this place down.

Wow, this club really needs to be shut down right away.

  •

    A SIXTH GRADER?
That's crazy. How can they not shut the place down? Isn't that considered child pornography? Or does someone have to snap a picture of her WHILE she pole dances naked in order for it to violate any laws?

who the hell visited the club ( already makes them meh) and didnt report it right away? It took 2 weeks?! I understand a 17 year old passing for legal but 12 is not even passable for legal.

Not only should the place be closed, but the owner and who ever was responsible for employing her, should be prosicuted. An example should be made of them to avoid it happening elsewhere. obviosly the powers that be were visiting the club and are peodifiles them selves!

starbuck23, didn't you read the last sentence? The girl was a runaway at the time, the parents are not to be blamed.

I know the age is shocking, but it did say she was a runaway. Yes, it sucks that underage kids think that stripping is a good way to make money, but one has to ask why they are there in the first place? What was so bad at home that thier only refuge was a strip club?

  •

    LOL! Keeshii! My thoughts exactly.

What kind of food is this girl eating that she could pass for anything close to 20?

You can't blame the parents someone said, because she was a runaway...

I blame a 12 year old runaway on the parents. The only thing a 12 year old could be running away from is home life. I bet the parents are drunks or drug addicts and some serious white trash shit going on.

who the hell is hiring a 12 year old as a stripper? alright, her parents messed up and she ran away. But seriously? What kind of a business person employs someone that young to do a job like that? So many people to blame.

I like how we can run a governor out of office for screwing a stripper, but we can't shut down a strip club for employing a twelve year old.

cmon folks its DALLAS. of course they have underage strippers, and every other kind of perversion. Texas needs a good shaking (The US needs a good shaking)

Perhaps the problems with the USA start in Texas? It's yet another appalling example of the USA representing exactly what we're criticized for by the rest of the world. A country of Hypocrites.

We preach justice and at the same time we practice injustice. Core to the concept of justice is protecting the innocent from things they are powerless to protect themselves from. That's why we have child protection laws for labor. So at the very least even besides the perversion issue they have broken serious child-labor laws....

I look at the world through an idealists glasses and I frequently have to hold myself back from being too judgmental but I don't feel very wrong in calling out: Shame on Texas!

    First off, disgusting.
How anyone could be even be remotely close to being slightly interested in seeing a 12 year old stripper baffles me. F*cking gross.

    Second -

    Saying
"c'mon folks, it's DALLAS. of course they have underage strippers, and every other kind of perversion."
    and
"the problems with the USA start in Texas"
    reeks of ignorance.
    Sorry; it just does.

You're acting like every single person in Texas would be all like "meh, whatever, it happens, wish I'd been there, sounds fun," when they'd actually be just as disgusted as you are.
Sh*t like this goes on all over the country (not to mention the world), whether you hear about it or not.
Just because it happened in Dallas doesn't automatically mean Texas is the Root of All American Evil.

That sort of thought process should be nipped in the butt whenever it rears its head.
Fill in the blanks with different words (black people, gay people, Californians), and hey-guess-what, you're a bigot.

I say blame it on the Mexicans...lol

  •

Humdrum is right perhaps we're being too "finger-pointy" but I know that when things like this happen in my state I'm hopping mad and I do something about it.

If you live in Texas. This is a WAKE-UP call to send an email to your mayor, governor, congressman.

    Here's some help:

    http://www.state.tx.us/
    http://www.governor.state.tx.us/
    http://www.dallascityhall.com/
    http://www.dallascityhall.com/government/mayor/mayor.html

You have to take care of it... I'm too busy dealing with my own State's issues.

Also, If you're not already paying attention to organizations like MoveOn.org, the DFA (Democracy for America), Truemajority.org.... please take a peek. They make it even easier to straighten out our ailing political system by helping us and empowering us unwashed masses to take out government that fails and replace it with government that works.

Isn't it illegal to employ a 12 year old whether she's got clothes on or not?

You would think this would fall under a form of child abuse since it is glorifying a minor in a sexual manner for profit but is lacking any actual sexual contact, that we know of. Just tossing it out there...

And this is not only found in Texas. I read an article about a strip bar in the bay area that had girls between the ages of 13 and 17 dancing on a nightly basis. They were shut down and there were charges handed down to the owners. I'm not sure why the state that tried to legislate the way cheerleaders dance doesn't have something on the books about underage stripping.
