That is just horrible. How could he think that would be even acceptable if only his supporters saw that?

well, environmentally...here's why:

I think the audience was just responding to what he said - I mean, imagine being in a big hall, far away from the speaker (not anywhere near as close as the camera puts us) and your man makes a bit of a snide remark about the opponent, then scratches an itch. You'd barely even notice the gesture unless it was really big, which this was not. Has anyone ever acted in a school play? It's kinda like that - unless you make a big gesture, it goes unnoticed. Of course, on camera, things look a lot different.

When I saw the headline, I was hoping this would be a clip from the debate! That would have been funnier.

But this is a good example of the kind of scrutiny that candidates are under these days: the public and the media, scouring footage for any little tidbit, anything, that might indicate something unspoken. And so, so often, coming up with nothing, like this. And then, especially if it's the media, blowing it up into some big thing. It would suck to be a candidate - of course, they asked for it.

Sometimes I think it's amusing to imagine what it would have been like to watch Abraham Lincoln run for Prez in the YouTube age...

Why should we expect that the B.O. "faithful" could recognize improper behavior from their Deity? It is like asking a normal person to hear a dog whistle. B.O.'s "faithful" can't see past the superficial nonsense that comprises B.O.'s carefully crafted public persona. They can't hear that B.O.'s speeches are lack reality and substance. They can't see that this rookie Senator is trying to slip by the application process for the Top Job in the U.S. without a resume. The "faithful" would not likely buy stock in a Corporation that this Junior Senator ran, but they fantasize that everything will be "Happy Happy Joy Joy" if B.O. ran the whole country. The "faithful" chose that compassionate guy Bush and who can argue that sweetness and light is what we got as a result. Tragic....

Yea he definitely did not, politics can be so stupid sometimes when everyone gets sidetracked from the environment, the war in Iraq, and other important issues, but we all do it, its like the teenager inside us all have to gossip about it.

If you study the video closely you'll hear Obama say to Clinton, "A sphincter says what?" to which Hillary can plainly be heard to say, "What?"

By her own admission she is a sphincter and we simply cannot allow an admitted sphincter to go up against McCain in the general election. The 527's would have a field day running sphincter-centric attack ads and playing up to the anti-sphincter demographic.

Thank god we have these critical debates so our candidates are properly vetted early in the process.

As a member of the "Obama faithful" I have to say that it's sh*t like this that you Clinton supporters float out there that really hurts your argument. Yes, I'm an Obama supporter, but I know he's not perfect. No candidate is. When you make a mountain out of something that isn't even a molehill, you only damage your own case.

He has a female on his staff that you can watch if you pay attention that instructs the crowd around him when to applaud. Scratching his face with one of four fingers on his hand, and 'not saluting the flag'. WHY IS THIS AN ISSUE? Why is saluting the flag such a big deal? As far as I'm concerned, refusing to say the pledge of allegiance, rest one's hand on one's heart, sing the anthem or be sworn in on the Christian bible SHOULD NOT be an issue in this day and age. This is 2008 after all. Then again, this IS the United States of America.
