  • There are a few things the filmmakers could do to make this a contender for TV. Please take whatever I say with the spirit with which it's intended, which is to make your pods so good they get picked for TV every time. So that millions of people can see your work, instead of just a few on the website.

    First, for a pod that's only 2:38, you need to get into the "what are we watching and why" a lot faster than 1/4 of the way through it. At 0:42 seconds, they were still drawing with chalk on the sidewalk and I can't tell what they're making. I'm not liable to wait any longer unless I'm watching it because I'm your friend or teacher. You're losing me.

    I need some more context within the pod, not just in the comment left by dbocaz. Where is this taking place? Where is the sidewalk? Is it next to a busy park? A public place? Or a residential street? Who is seeing the chalk writings? Is there anyone else around and what are THEIR reactions? So many things you could shoot to make this more interesting.

    But, more than anything, A-roll of the people speaking is what's missing. People's faces are so much more interesting than messages scrawled on a sidewalk in chalk. Don't you think so? I want to see their eyes, see their faces, and their expressions. It would add so much to the piece. Portraits of the people.

    Also, some B-Roll of nature -- the beach, the sky, the elements mentioned in the writings on the sidewalk.

    All these things would improve the pod, I hope it gets on TV for Earth Day.

  • The students made the choice of focusing on the hands and the quotes... it's about the words and not the people. I like it and support the choice.

    Great detailed feedback though. That's why I love Current... people have helped, specific comments that really make you think about what you've created.

  • It's nearly there. Some clarity is needed with some of the voices. It was a struggle to understand what was being said.

    A little tweaking and it's a go.

  • I think this is good, but I agree that maybe the drawing at the beginning could be cut down a bit. I also agree that people's faces would be more compelling than stiff shots of the sidewalk. Otherwise, excellent job and I agree with all of the quotes! Happy Earth Day.

  • I LIKED IT BUT SINCE THE POD IS SHORT I 3 AGREE THAT THE DRAWING SHOULD BE CUT SHORT AND THE ACTUAL QUOTES AND DRAWINGS SHOULD BE CLEARER AND LONGER. BUT I STILL LIKE IT

  • I'll see if this group wants to work on it a bit more. This is from an intro class and we were just playing around. It turned out pretty nice, especially for a group new to filmmaking.
