What am I doing to be eco-friendly this Earth Day? I'll be knitting my own Swiffer cover. It beats throwing away the disposable kind, and I imagine it probably works better too.
Maybe it'll even inspire me to, um, actually clean something. (Or not.)

What's a Swiffer, though?

Kudos to you for your creativity. You could sell those on Etsy. They have cute homemade things.

To be clear, the pattern isn't mine--I found it from a fellow knitblogger and wanted to share. So the kudos should go to her! :)
@jpoRS: I just finished my first one, and yes, it works just as well, if not better, than the disposable ones.
@mischa: A Swiffer is a sort of broom/mop deal that's really popular. They have a couple different versions, and they're pretty useful but you have to buy disposable covers for them. These make a much less wasteful (and cheaper!) alternative. -
I actually emailed Swiffer a few years ago, saying that I would use their product more if they offered a non-disposable solution. They replied that until their consumers ask for one, they wouldn't put work into developing one. So thanks but no thanks.
What works Fantastico is wrapping my microfibre cloth around my swiffer sweeper, then tossing the cloth into the wash when I'm done. Voila! Reusable Swiffer! :) -
I make paper mache chickens out of junk mail....I'm so poor!

Great and easy tip thanks!
I also now use a Cuban Mop!
They are great!
Anyone use these here?
Sometimes I boil the towel to get the floor extra clean.-
