  • there is no reason to look for a hero..if we are to do something about the planet..if you stood with your back to that redwood tree you would discover that its life ..may join with yours for a moment and so help you to understand what the earth needs from each of us..after all we all come from its nature by our fivefold design..better to find the answers from nature, as humans at this time are looking for them and so far have not had great success in understanding the planets ways...hope this is useful..tj

  • I wouldn't say I would call them heroes, but they are environmental pioneers who have inspired me. I have had a few in my lifetime... Rachel Carson, John Muir, Gaylord Nelson, Wangari Mathaai, RFK Jr., Robert Redford, Dr. Vandana Shiva...The culture of the Native American because they truly respect and cherish the symbiosis between us and this planet... And in case you couldn't guess, Al Gore, mainly because of his vision, conviction, and perseverence. And now it is time for all of us to become pioneers. That's what Earth Day is all about. Thanks for the question.

  • My eco heros are my Memere and Pepere who conserved electricity when I was a child in the mid 1950s.
Onondaga Faithkeeper and Chief Oren Lyons who says "Making decisions for the 7th generation is not a casual term, it is a real instruction for survival.
Winona LaDuke who reminded us "The Water is One" since the mid 1970s.
Russell Means who said, "For American to live, Europe must die."
Martin Luther King Jr. who said, "It is always the right time to do what is right."
My grandmother Mimi who said, "Si on veut, on peut." "If we want to, we can."

  • Well certainly Al Gore, but the American Indians. Had we learned from them rather than slaughtered them, this would be a much better world now.

  • I use to live next to Danny many years ago and have gone for many walks down Broad Beach with him. It may be hard to see sometimes by the parts he has done but him and Rhea have two of the cleanest souls on this planet and I am glad to get to share it with them. Now, here is the heavy part. Everything in the Universe is made of the exact same thing only packaged differently. It doesn't matter if it is large like a redwood or small like an ant. It borrowed everything and will someday return it , but everything was here before and will be here after. That means that you should respect everything and I mean everything. I heard James Baker of the first Bush age once say that it is the job of every Christian to use up this Earth. One of the craziest things I have ever heard and I have heard many. The native people of Earth all new that this planet was their friend. How have we all become so stupid so quick. We all seem to be watered down versions of those that came before us. The ones that really get me are those that believe that life is something you must go through so you can die. You are at the Greatest Circus in the Universe, enjoy the show, be dazzled, and pick up after yourself when you leave. Think of all that came before you and all that hopefully will follow. I read the good responses and delete the bad ones. If this offends you then click it. Thanks Johnnie Hargrave
