I was an Obama volunteer

And now I have the same feeling in my gut, staring at Tommy's head and listening to Obama speak, as I did trying to get in to that bar: I'm close, but some blue-collar white guy stands in my way. And I guess that's how I feel about the campaign, too.

"So join me now, Philadelphia," shouts Obama, frenzying the crowd, "and let's go change the world together."

Maybe, I think to myself. Or maybe we'll just get really close to changing it.

This is the story of a journalist who went undercover to volunteer in the Obama campaign in PA. It offers a sharp contrast to the journalist who went undercover in Clinton's campaign. You can find the other story here: http://current.com/items/88910234_i_was_a_clinton_volun...

  • "What struck me most," says Tramble, who has taken a hiatus from her analyst job to volunteer full time, "were the people in their 50s and 60s who felt so disaffected that they've never voted in their lives."

Wow - thanks jkateel, interesting article.

  • As much as I'm an Obama supporter, I sometimes feel the Huffington Post can be a bit biased so I was wary in reading both articles.

However, I found it not to be about either candidate. It was about these volunteers, their attitudes, the hard work. The Clintonites, although unorganized, put a lot into it. And the Obamaniacs, despite being a little deterred by some choice words by the Rev., seemed faithful and willing to reach out to every corner of Philly.

I did not like the fact that the Clinton supporters think that Obama supporters are "brainwashed". It really frightens me that if Clinton does not win the Democratic nomination, that they will vote for McCain instead because they don't want to join up with something they've been fighting for so long. We'll just have to see.

Other than that both articles were great. You can see the negatives and the positives in both of the campaigns and you can also see the hard work being put out on both sides. Really great.
