American Danica Patrick has become the first woman to win a major international motor race, with victory in the Indycar race at Japan's Twin Ring Motegi circuit yesterday.

Even with the rule change she pulled it off good for her. Next year should be really good when CART and IRL combine.

Much respect for Danica. Great result after a long hard road to the top. However, she is NOT the first woman to be a winner at the top levels of motorsport.
Michèle Mouton won multiple rounds of the World Rally Championship for Audi and finished a close second in the the World Championship. Arguably rally is the most difficult form of autoracing. Only being the most daring and fastest driver will get you a win in a World Rally race.
