Virgin Galactic boss Sir Richard Branson is planning to set yet another record – by becoming the first man to marry a couple in space.

The 58-year-old billionaire intends to conduct a ceremony 70 miles above the Earth on the first Galactic sub-orbital flight next year...

  • Listen I have his "virgin Mobile" phone and that's just mediocre I only have it because my credit is bad I don't fell like paying a nut for a cell phone, grant it I work for AT&T and would get a "slight" discount, but I would still have to pay some ridiculous ass deposit in order to get cell phone service through them, honestly I could give a shit less about this dude going into space and marring some people and a little more about what this "Galactic boss Sir Richard Branson" is doing to help the earth, cause I know for a fact that his uhh.. "planes" that can go into space and come back sure as hell arn't helping the enviornment. I know he isn't the cause but every little thing helps! I've learned that from the current channel, I have not turned it off since I discovered it Yesterday.

    Not long ago, Branson sat in agreement with Al Gore, stating that global warming was anthropocentric and that the world needs to address the problem. Is this how you do address it, Branson? you dufus.

  • A hummer on a month joy ride would hardly get each of them started. I would guess that the fuel used by each person on that 'flight' would be enough for each of them to drive hummers round for a lifetime.

  • wow i did he really sit down with al gore and say that, because I didn't he did something like that. He may be trying to marry people in space, but wasn't this the guy who was adamant about looking for resources no other planets or monns and what have you. I mean thats not a means for all our answers, we really need to focus on the individual right now, and what the individual can do to help the enviornment. That is what it will take to make or days and our childrens days last longer, everyone needs to get involved on an individual basis. For example, I have yet to really recycle, because If I want to do it from my home I have to pay for it. But all it takes is for people to search on the internet to find drop spots, and at that point all it costs you is the dive to the box, which is normally by a grocery store or something, so it's really not costing you anymore money just the dedicationa and time to make things right.

  • Canning space-related programs isn't going to save the environment.

    If anything, pushing for commercial investment in space technology is going to make the current situation on Earth better - space-based solar arrays with microwave power transmitters, for instance, would be far more effective than Earth-based photovoltaics (no clouds, no night). Plenty of metals that we are running short of on Earth can still be found elsewhere in the solar system. It's just that the initial investment in technology is steep. Reason number three to get our space technology up to snuff - rocks in space that might crash into us.

    The best way to find a more cost-efficient solution to move things to and from space is by letting people like Branson dump money into it.

    Finally, the desire to explore and push frontiers is part of human nature. It nourishes the spirit and ignites creativity. To put off any such exploration or advances until 'everything' is fixed on Earth means to never do it at all.

    for years and why not have marriages in space
    if you wanted to live the star trek dream by having
    one in outer space it will be great so you can
    get married and have a great view of the galaxy
    and it will make an excellent new tradition 20/10

  • i suppose there was no better way for these people to spend these millions of dollars... than to be able to say "we got married in space!" Think of the fuel, the money wasted... i'm sure its in the millions... that could've been spent feeding the poor, or, for that matter, conducting legitimate scientific research in space. What a colossal waste... it should be a crime to waste money like this, and worse yet, i'm sure more of the super-rich will follow the example. Thanks, Richard! be glad when you're dead.

  • this is important news. Stephen Hawking has stated that in order for humanity to survive, we must learn to inhabit other planets. It may be a pointless joyride for rich people, but it will probably help to generate interest and funding in space research. Branson is ushering in a new age.
