CNN has come up w/ something USEFUL!
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/02/29/delegate.counter...
check the link, it is a democratic delegate calculator
ps:
does anyone remember the clintons saying that if they were not to win (that is how politicians talk) Texas or Ohio, then she would step aside?
well, the numbers I can find for texas are 99obama, 96clinton
although she won the popular vote by 3.5%

IT LOOKS EXTREMELY CLOSE BY THESE CALCULATIONS... IT EASILY COULD GO EITHER WAY!
-
-
It's no where near close. She would have to beat him in every contest by double digits to even have the slightest chance. See for yourself, go to the delegate counter and give her a 10 spread in every contest - including the super delegates and watch what happens. She could literally run the table from now until the end, winning each time by double digits and STILL not catch him. Now how is that " extremely close" by any stretch of the imagination?
-
Set all remaining states (including Guam and Puerto Rico) to 50% then set super-delegates to 73 27 in favor of Clinton and they tie 2031 each. What then?
-
ivxx,
That scenario, however unlikely would no doubt result in something just short of anarchy and cause serious damage to the party. Moreover, it would mean four more years of Bush with Sen. McCain as president. In essence what you're saying is the supper-delegates would just hand the nomination to Sen. Clinton arbitrarily - totally ignoring the will of the people and a nearly 150 delegate lead. What purpose would be served by that action? -
she said she would quit after texas. god i cannot wait until she loses Penn.
all hail president McCain (tear shed)...-

eldamon,
I wrote one way. In the five or so minutes I played with it I found three ways and I'm sure there are more. And thats my purpose, "Hey, look at this crazy scenario that just might happen"
Look I'm for Obama and I'm praying he win Penn. but the fact still remains the super-delegates are the decision makers and can sway it anyway they wish.
So Humor me... Co-presidents? Thats the only thing I can think of. -
Hmm, well if we are going to speculate a bit...
Perhaps Mr. Gore would be drafted at that point with Sen. Obama as VP and Sen. Clinton promised Sec. of State? -
If there is a tie at the convention they just keep holding votes (at the convention, not a full primary) until someone has the upper hand.
-
Now I'm all for that! Better than flipping a coin. Heads!
-
shouldnt popular vote be conclusive enough for the rational brain?
the clintons are rational, if that is how they consider winning texas, then why not apply the same reasoning for the entire country? -
the only issue would be that this unreal political media mental hook would be lost...
that is not what murdock and his acquaintances want

lfm,
I think getting rid of the electoral college and super-delegates is enough. I think we should do away the primaries, and the parties of that matter, altogether. Let each candidate run on their opinions. Maybe then we could get more Ralph Naders in office. -
Either way its great to be a republican. Like either of these two can win lol. I love to see liberals shoot themselves in the foot. The only chance they had was to run together, but their ego's are to big for that. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH
-
egos seem to be pretty inflated, true
ivxx, more naders & kucinichs -
lfm, don't forget about the Ron Pauls
-
it seems to be clear we need some team effort

Obama is all for killing babies AFTER they are born and calling it abortion! Look up "Born Alive Infants Protection Act". Obama was one of very few to vote against this, see for yourself the words he said. This man is a monster.
