Schwarzenegger received an overwhelming standing ovation.
Schwarzenegger vetoed two previous bills that would have legalized marriage equality. He claimed it was a decision for the courts.
The court will make it's decision by June.
If California does legalize marriage equality, John McCain will have to make a decision. He will either support the old homophobic mentality of the current administration, or he can take the higher road and support equality for gays and lesbians. Should he chose the former, he will have to campaign in a state where a Republican governor disagrees with him on one of the most important civil rights issues today. It would be awkward to say the least.
Or McCain could do the right thing, and support every voter in the most profoundly personal decision of their lives. He could take the government roadblocks out of our way, and let us live freely, as we were born to be.
It is your choice Mr. McCain. I hope you chose wisely.

I predict the Terminator is going to be the President in 2016. And I might just consider him. "Might."
-
Neghie,
So you must also be predicting that they'll end those stupid presidential requirements - such as born in american and 38 years old. -
You're right ivxx. I completely even forgot he has that crazy accent. Hey, we have a black man and a woman running for President. All things are still possible right?
-
All things are possible as long as we get off our ass and do something about it.
-
How come? Blind Generation!
Is it that difficult for you to understand such simple TWO natural shapes?
PUT THEM FACE TO FACE!
DO THE TWO BODIES FIT?
SO...
for the "MORE SOPHISTICATED" ones:
Bio-research over the past centuries CONFIRM the existance of The XX/XY sex-determination system which is one of the most familiar sex-determination systems and is found in human beings and most other mammals. In the XY sex-determination system, females have two of the same kind of sex chromosome (XX), while males have two distinct sex chromosomes (XY).
WHAT COMBINATION DOES FIT PERFECTLY?
Be at peace with nature... with yourself!

Hooray for my governor! Most of the time he's a complete dufus, but once in a while, he does California proud.

he should be president. amend the rules. seriously. he'd win. i'd vote him in in a heartbeat
and on the gay marriage thing, its stupid. give them the tax breaks as civil unions and be done with it. there should be no real reasons a gay couple would want to get "married" which by definition is a christian term, and that the government has given tax breaks to...
-
hey diode, but what if a gay couple DOES want to get married, in spite of what you say? you think they should not have that opportunity? (obviously, this whole debate applies only to civil marriage, over which the state has authority - regardless of the origins of the term, it's not a Christian term alone any longer) why not?
-
Schwarzenegger endorsed McCain for president a little while ago. In January I think. Hmmm....

why marriage. just make a promise and put on a ring. its just more paperwork for the divorce. homosexuals have a higher partner turnover rate than hetero's and hetero's still get divorced around 60-70% of the time. is a piece of paper supposed to make a difference? make a civil union and marriage equal under law. hopefully then people will be getting married for the right reasons
-
Oh, I see. So you favor a "separate but equal" approach?
-
The sponsors of a proposed constitutional amendment to outlaw same sex marriage in California said Monday they have collected more than 1,1 milion signatures, enough to qualify for a Novemeber ballot.
Will the Supreme Court toss out existing California existing one man-one-woman marriage laws approved by a great majority of Californians ?
Will the USA stay a democracy or will the country break up between states that are for same sex marriage and states that are not ?
As we say, as the family go ...so the nation !!!

its about time how can california be the the state that all the gays go to, but no gay rights?
-
Way for Governor Schwarzenegger to make the step towards terminating marriage inequality.
-
What an amazing and timely turnabout! If truth be told I've been a closeted fan of Governor Schwarzenegger ever since it was announced that he was running against Grey Davis. There's something about his tenacity coupled with his assessment of situations that's inordinately admirable. I'm beyond pleased that he's come to his political and personal senses on the side of human rights for each and all.

For a Republican, Arnold sure has a lot of humanity. He sure has come a long way in overcoming his macho, kick butt, tough guy terminator image. He really has remade himself into a respectable and admirable politician. I say kudos to Swarzenegger for being a decent guy.
-
Go Arnie!!!
Finally an adult politician who doesn't let his party overwhelm his personal truth.
A great day for gay rights.
A great day for integrity.
-
if all it was was a piece a paper, then gay marriage wouldnt be such a big deal..but it is...THESE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AS ALL PEOPLE....preventing gays and lesbians from marrying is like preventing bi racial marriages and not allowing african american ppl or women to vote....THESE ARE ALL RIGHTS IN THIS COUNTRY....there is supposed to be a seperation of church and state....so this is a state issue and should be handled that way...if god hates gays then fuck him..
-
thats right..fuck him
-
In countries where Homosexual marriage is approved Blatant Bigotry is declining very rapidly.
That is obvious.
-
In a world comprised of people with opinions it comes as no particular surprise when in 2008 you still hear comments about what sexual organ fits where as if that were the defining aspect of human relationships. Shame on those that are still anachronisms in their own times!
