Smoking weed can improve your performance in all sorts of activities -- from playing reggae music to watching Battlestar Galactica to writing blog posts.
If you're an already ill-trained, semi-motivated soldier in the Afghan Army, however, spliffs are a particularly poor way to prepare for battle, as this little clip illustrates..

well that was certainly interesting, i think pot might make them calm down a bit, but how can you be accurate at all while shooting?

now if we could only get the shot callers to smoke some weed this war would be over. then again with the food shortages around the world that might start other wars, over the munchies.

A spliff is very different than a joint. They're mostly tobacco. Plus I doubt the weed is very strong.

Should keep them calm.
-
The thing about weed is that it covers your nerve endings so that you can feel less pain and calm down, but your reaction time is slower. I would understand if they were giving weed to soldiers that were hurt, but not the active ones.

i'd need to smoke some heavenly herb before I was convinced to walk into a war.

I served in OEF7 and worked closely with the Afghan national Army several times and I can tell all of you first hand that those guys were getting jacked up constantly. About them smoking BEFORE a fire-fight, well that's a misleading way to put it, because most fire-fights are enemy initiated, the Taliban don't wear uniforms, so it's harder for state troops to initiate combat. It would be more correct to say that the ANP was smoking before they got ambushed.
-
I used to smoke a blunt right before I played floor hockey in college and it always made me so damn awkward and unbalanced, not a good choice for pre-physical activity-activity...(?)
-
I agree the guys "up top" should smoke and then maybe, no, they would understand what THE PEOPLE are saying. LISTEENNNN!!

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudge. . . . Give the taliban that stuff, and maybe there'll be piece.

I've witnessed poor Call of Duty performances due to excessive marihuana use.

LOL...I wonder how many rappers now want to join the army

Cannibus is for party, not for WAR. That's Crazy!
-
Yes, people have to be trained for fighting and it's not taken serious. Death is real and in fighting, one has to be 100%.
Cannibus is good and all but it slows reaction time.
Bullets kill and there is no time to chill. -
i wish we had some in iraq...i wouldn't have lost my mind..i remember the exact second i did...

Facing the reality without any assistance is very hard and that's why people loose their minds.
