Jimmy Fallon replacing Conan? For reals this time?

Could it finally be true? Is NBC just inches from officially announcing Fallon as O'Brien's permanent replacement? This rumor has been floating around for quite some time (even pushed by Fallon himself once, on Howard Stern's radio show), so we'll have to wait and see what happens. NBC seems to like Fallon; he filled in for Letterman a while back, and I'm sure NBC wants to make an announcement way ahead of time so there are no controversies.

This is a horrible idea. Does anyone laugh at their own jokes more than Jimmy Fallon? Plus, wouldn't every guest be thinking "Hey aren't you that comedian that tried super hard to be Adam Sandler?"

NBC will lose its dominance in this time slot. Jimmy Falon had the best writing team in the country and made it look bad, very bad on SNl. He isn't in the least bit improvisational, and quite simply comes off as cocksure and a bit abrasive to my tastes. When his jokes fail, he wont entice an audiance reaction like Conan and if he does well....it would be offputing as well because I'd just be thinking how much better Conan would be at it. Someone like Jon Stewart (whose contract just so happens to have beeb rumored to have an exit clause in it in 09, when Bush leaves office) would be perfect. -
i have never laughed at anything jimmy fallon has done. not even the redonkulousness of his career has cracked a smile on my face. or anyone elses for that matter.

its NBC, does anyone watch carson daily? And see how badly he struggles despite some obviously good writers? They won't drop Fallon and that's the tragedy. Its just going to be painful to watch.

what! noone likes jimmy!? i love conan and jimmy both. they are emazing. i think jimmy fallon is hilarious. they are both funny!
